New North Puget Sound League

By Kleeg005, in X-Wing Organized Play

Welcome, Pilots, to the N.L.D.L.!

Welcome to the Net-List Defamation League, a group of like-minded individuals dedicated to encouraging list-creation diversity, and to the absolute rejection of “the Meta.” We love X-Wing, and we love all its pilots – not just the four or five that time and chance have shown to be all-powerful.

Genesis Rule
The primary purpose of the N.L.D.L. is to explore new builds. Therefore, the cardinal rule of the League is that a player may not play the same list more than once in a season. To that effect, a player cannot use any named Pilot more than once in the same season, nor may he use the same number of the same generic ships more than once in a season. For an example of that second point, you MAY play a mini-swarm of four Academy TIEs as part of a list; subsequent matches cannot have four Academy TIEs, but may have two, or three, or five, but never those rosters again.

General Rules

1. Registration is $5, to cover prize support. Prize support will depend on levels of League participation. (We hope to gain enough support to be able to award custom range rulers, for example.)

2. The League season is 10 weeks.
3. Each player may only play another player once in the season for League points, to a maximum of 10 League games in a season.
4. Matches follow standard FFG dogfight tournament rules and 75 minute time frame.
5. Players must present standard FFG Tournament List Record Sheets to their opponents prior to the start of their match.
6. The League is based out of MOB Games in Lake Stevens, and we encourage you for simplicity's sake to use their dedicated game space, especially on Thursday's regular X-Wing Night. However, if that does not work for a player, they may play anywhere, any time, as arranged between matched players. If after making these arrangements a player does not show up at the time and place determined, he forfeits all points and his opponent receives full points.
7. If a player plays an illegal list, he forfeits and his opponent receives full points. Keep track of which pilots you've already played!
8. No proxies. Vassal and similar simulator programs are not allowed. You must physically have the ships and cards you wish to fly. (You may, of course, borrow said ships and cards from other willing players.)
9. Lists and results must be reported by Monday afternoon to count for the week previous. Required details are each player's full list and points killed.
10. A minimum of 7 matches is required to earn participation prizes (Participation prizes pending number of players registered versus level of prize support).
11. The top 4 highest-ranked players will play off in an elimination mini-tournament to determine the final top rankings. Final four position will be determined entirely by the result of the tournament, and pairing for the tournament will be random. Standard season rules apply to the tournament (players must bring TWO entirely new lists for the tournament), except Finals scoring will be based on standard FFG tournament rules: wins and MoV. Tournament to be held at MOB Games' Thursday night X-Wing Night the week following the end of the regular season.

Scoring
1. Each League match earns 3 points.
2. Each League win earns 3 points.
3. List Diversity Bonus: earn 1 point each time a Pilot is used for the first time in a season, to a maximum of three points per match (i.e.: the use of three Academy TIEs in a match is worth 1 point; the use of two Academy TIEs in a following week is worth 0 points; four named TIE pilots and an Ace is worth the maximum 3 points).
4. MoV is recorded and used to settle ties.

The Net-List Defamation League is intended to be a casual, fly-friendly event. In that spirit, we hope that there will not be any conflict or disputes. If such should arise, it will be adjudicated by the League Organizers, whose judgments will be final.

Any prizes won must be picked up in person at MOB Games.

So, League registration is of course in person at MOB Games in Lake Stevens, WA. We aim to start officially on May the Fourth, although if anyone can't make that day, they can work with their opponent to play their League match as early as the 1st. That said, we are looking to close registration...let's say April 27th or 28th, to give us time to sort out any wrinkles and get opponents assigned. A Facebook page for the League is on its way.
