Deck Building Mix

By Jobu, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

Hi, I am looking to get peoples take on the right mix of Asset, Events and Skills in a deck. Right now I am playing a deck with 12 Assets. 6 events and 12 Skills. It works well, but I that mix may not always work well.

I know there is no magic number, Wendy wants a lot of Events. Daisy can be more interested in buffing other investigators combat than fighting herself. The whole thing needs to be balanced against cost of the cards versus income.

To ask the question another way, What is the minimum number of skills that you would put in your deck? Is zero crazy? Has anyone had good experiences with low skill count decks?

I actually frequently run with minimal or no skill cards in mystic decks like Jim and Agnes. I will however usually run both copies of their available talent cards. That's arcane studies and dig deep for Agnes and arcane studies and hard knocks for jim.

I Run heavier on the Event and Asset side of things when building decks, Running usually only 6 - 8 Skill cards for either important stats like Overpower for Roland, or to sure up weakness like Guts.

Yep. It all depends. We normally play with 3-4 investigators, so I tend to put as Many different skill cards as I can, because you always can help another investigator even if you don't need the Buff for yourself. In solo play you may end up with dead cards in your hand with the same card balance.

but as I said I use to run 8-10 skill cards in my decks. So 10,10,10 is near what we have with variotion of +-4 cards in each croup.
