Voppzy's Repaint

By voppzy, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

So I got my painting supplies yesterday and I'm really excited to start doing some painting, this is the first time I paint any miniatures so I am learning as I go.

This is my first attempt at a repaint and I'm pretty happy with it, the drybrushing didn't go as planned and I used a bit too much Nuln Oil, but since it's a scum Z-95 I think it works pretty well.

Any feedback appreciated, will probably repaint something else tomorrow (no idea which ship yet though)!

(Also I plan on building a lightbox so I can take better pictures)

Solid paint job! No question that it's scummy. Looks like it would go well with the Hound's Tooth.

So I've painted some more stuff, first I did this, mostly to see if I like masking tape or if i'd rather freehand (I liked freehanding more). It turned out ok, but nothing too exciting

Next I did this one, overdid it a bit on day 1 with drybrushing and shading, but then I went back the next day and made it look better. Really happy with how it turned out!

Might go back and do some more details including the cockpit with some Leadbelcher.

And finally today I repainted this one and attempted a gradient, it didn't turn out as smooth as I had imagined but I really like the result anyway! Using Leadbelcher for details and the cockpit ended up looking good as well.

As always any criticism is welcome and appreciated!

More to come!

Nice work.

Love the fade on the striker what paint are you using? Only criticism would be that it looks a little thick, what are you using to thin and how many layers are you doing? All round good job!

I am using citadel paints, for that one i used a base of Mephiston Red, and then a mix of Mephiston and Averland Sunset for the Orange, and then Averland for the yellow and then some Yriel Yellow mixed with some Ulthuan Grey for the brightest colors. I am still working on thining the paint more than I think I should though!

So this one has been lying around for a while, I just had to get around to buying a red shade for the panels, so I jsut finished it up today, Overall I'm really happy with it, the rust effect didn't turn out exactly as I wanted it but I might go back and redo some day.

And with the new red shade I got I painted this one.

I am really happy with this one, the weathering effects turnout out really well as well!

Next ship ill repaint will be a Protectorate in matching colors!

As always feedback is appreciated!

I think what is missing from the Quadjumper is chipped paint and grease/oil stains (do you have any Agrax Earthshade?). The chipped paint effect you have on the Jumpmaster (do 4 Jumpmasters = a Quadjumpermaster?) is done to great effect, that when compared to the Q, really makes it look too clean. I still like it though.

Thats a good point! I'll do some paintchipping one the quad as well, now that you say it it does look too clean
