Shadows in the Light (OOC)

By Ryoden, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I like those for half of our advantage. We could put 3 of the other 5 towards noticing the guard numbers, in total. Then I'm at a loss for the other 2.

Boosts

So can you describe where exactly we are at, where are we in relations to the others?

The two of you are hiding inside a small building in an abandoned area of the residential ring of the herdship city. The area is a cramped urban configuration but the Ithorians built it to be aesthetically pleasing and comfortable like a coastal Mediterranean village.

The three others have retreated to the base of one of the many towers that were built after the herdship was stationed here. It is a large utilitarian tower. Like a power cable transmission tower.

The Insurgents are not sure what the towers do or why they are there but as far as you know they hold up the force field.

You are essentially across the street from where they are now.

Ok got it.

Ok I'm gonna play it in character.and just shadow them for a moment.

Is it day or night?

The force field is covered in dirt and rubble so you have not seen natural starlight in a while, but every 12 hours or so the amount of excess light that the field produces is amped up to promote photosynthesis in the jungle habitat that is the farthest out ring of the herdship. Right now it is

Day or Night (1 or 2) : 1d2 2

and there are

Hours before day : 1d12 5

So middle of the night cycle.

Perfect.

Has anyone else noticed the strangers ?

Not that you see they apparently escaped from the heavily guarded center without pursuit. For now though they seem to be simply catching their breath. That is until they tell me what they are doing.

Perception to ensure no one followed us/we are 'alone', then athletics check to climb the tower and try and spot a better way to the center of the ship/control hub (perception again?). Looking for an unpatrolled section of the herdship.

So are we waiting for something to happen?

I think @Mattimeo84 called for a check prescription, and maybe an athletics to climb the tower and look... Sends maybe we are waiting on the GM @Ryoden , that seem right?

Thats my thoughts, once I find out the results, I'll post IC. Depending on my roll, maybe I see you, maybe I don't, depends how Ryoden wants us to meet.

Khaine is going to pass the time by trying to break in and hotwire a non-fancy speeder car with room for five or six. Skylight is a plus. Perhaps a speeder SUV? I think there is a Rodf Capesade nearby.

Sorry for the delay everyone. It was a combination of a busy weekend and I was sort of expecting others to tell me what their characters are doing.

Anyway:

You already spent the (5 total) advantage from your previous stealth checks to ensure that you are not being pursued. You don't need to make another check to learn that.

It is a simple check to climb the tower. The thing is rough and garish and there are hand holds all over the place. But it is a lattice work and climbing the tower will make you visible to any of the guards that happen to be looking it your direction. You could still do it and try to keep hidden but that will be much harder to do. Gaining that vantage point could give you a chance to look for another route into the center.

I have no designs on how you guys "should meet" beyond what I already posted. How it is handled beyond that is up to you. I don't dictate interactions between players unless I need to. Do I need to in this case? @TheShard said The Black Worm (what is the characters actual name?) was sneaking closer to follow Tox S'zish and Khaine. You could ask him for his stealth roll against your perception difficulty or visa versa.

You cant find a Rodf Capesade parked here but there is a Peje Gwenrarl. Hard mechanics check with one setback for the integrated anti theft package.

Beyond all that, The situation is as it was before. You have the forest behind you the industrial noises to your left, the abandoned city to your right and the guarded city center to in front of you.

No help needed, opposed check welcomed but I'm just going to follow them till they do something that provokes a response. So running into guards and having a fight, doing something that outs you as saboteurs, or I get close enough I hear conversation that would want me interceeding.

I'm not sure if my character has a name anymore. He feels he had no identity other then his duty to hours slave den mates. If need be I'll come up with something, but "worm" is what he was called before he escaped, due to his comfort and ease working underground and in narrow tunnels.

My reasoning behind Perception - we as gamers know that we weren't followed, but do our characters know that? I assume they knew, but they would still be cautious. On a success, the characters would know they were not followed. On a fail, they could find Shard and Darzil. I was going to completely ignore advantage/disadvantage here and make this truly a pass/fail. (similar to a force die roll in F&D)

What do you guys think? should Tox try and climb the tower and risk being spotted, but gain knowledge of our predicament?

On the contrary, the characters could "know" they were not followed because their players spent the advantage to declare that was the case.

Remaining cautious is fine but I try to remove excess dice rolls when possible.

As far as you rolling to see if you spot Worm and/or Mrash. They are the ones setting the difficulty for that. Though there are standard rules for opposed checks that could apply.

So if you really want to spot Mrash, it's at least 4 difficulty (no upgrades), based on Stealth. However, we could just wait for Worm to report that you don't look like slavers.

And if your under the tower discussing plans to climb so you can spot guards and avoid slavers... Well maybe we got word someone was trying to make contact with us insurgents, and guess it's yall.

That works for me

Why don't you start the climb. I'll interrupt?
