Shadows in the Light (OOC)

By Ryoden, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I should post my IC within the hour.

A thought occurs, didn't we get slicing gear? Was the bonus forgotten or would it have been impossible without it?

EDIT: Missed it on the last page

S'zish is going to take the same approach to this ship as the last one, but this time he is going to search the ship for a droid, his goal would be an AT-ED (pg. 55 Enter the Unknown) or a Wanderer Scout Surveyor (pg. 57 Enter the Unknown), following those would be an astromech droid.

Can Tox make a perception check to look out all the windows and hole to try and spot a Tie Fighter (or correct ship type) amongst the debris?

Oh man yeah we should put some thought into that venture huh ^_^;;

I'll probably explore deeper into the ship to look for clues or loot ;)

Access into the ship is blocked from this area by the emergency bulkhead. The group has yet to declare an action on trying to bypass that. Or are you saying that you're going to look for another way in such as through and exterior access port?

The view from the cockpit right now is pointing towards the center of this Valley. It is the largest Valley you've seen so far. Perhaps an old impact crater because it is very round. It seems like some of the largest pieces of debris were dumped in the center because the slope of the land seems to create a large pile there. Very large pieces of debris can be seen at the center point things that must have come off of truly large ships, But in your immediate vicinity you do not see any pieces of a TIE fighter

I keep striking out with perception. I am gonna have to start trying to justify brawl for all my checks from now on...

Shot in the brutish dark...can I smash it? /:)

Haha, yes you could smash your way through but that would break the Hermetic seal and let the pressurized atmosphere on the other side get out. If you could have get your hands on a localized Force field generator you might be able to rig a way to get through without causing any damage. Or if you were able to Jack into the ship's systems successfully you may be able to determine what's on the other side of the door and make a decision that way.

The other route would be to search the exterior of the ship for an access port. Those are typically double doors with an airlock feature.

Just to make sure you're all aware of what your characters are aware of, you have picked up on indications that the ship still has power inside. That's based on the fact that the Hermetic seal is activated and lit. And that the comms/sensor station is providing any signal at all, despite the unsuccessful attempts to access it.

That's by the way, is also strange. It would not normally be locked and in a defensive mode.

We're not doing it that way this time

Thinking about it after the YT's sensors failed S'zish would probably take the Hunchback out and try to find something like the TIE.

@Ryoden Is there any difficulty to get it out of the cargo bay, and once it's out can S'zish make a perception check to locate a TIE of any type?

No difficulty to get it out of the cargo bay. It just takes some time and because you parked well enough you can unload it on to the hull the C-ROC.

Once you have it out and powered up and you are sitting in the cockpit the instrument panel lights up and you are good to go. If the first thing you are doing is just visually looking for a TIE fighter then it would be an easy check.

It has room for a co-pilot are you taking anyone with you

Anyone want to come along? If not will the 3 DUM droids fit?

I can go, if you are willing. I'm not seeming to do a whole lotta good inside the ship. Or, better maybe, take the DUM droids. They can help with mechanics check to get console if found.

Ha!

It's only a silhouette 2 vehicle. That means to me that it's literally just a seat for another operator to sit in. The 3 droids can collapse and deactivate and come that way. Piled onto the seat.

That occurred to me as quite odd and makes Khaine wonder. And meta-gaming the two upgrades on the check confirms something is amiss to me as a player.

Since I don't think that we brought a portable sheild generator, Khaine is going to go outside and start looking for an external hatch. Either an access hatch ala Lando on top of the Falcon in Empire or a full blown airlock.

@Ryoden Would a ship like this have an emergency built into it that may have simply not gone off because the controls were damaged? Something that if we fixed the controls we could activate?

The droids will come in handy if you do find something since they have both mechanics and computers. If you are going to take the hunchback out Khaine asks that you take a minute to scan the soil to get an idea of the blue stuff. Oh. And you may be able to find some old consoles and such that we can use to fix up the controls on the ship.

Edit: Another thought, we can use the scanners in the hunchback to scan the ship. They're much better than those in the ship.

---------

I did have an idea. Since the hunchback is a 0G model with mag-clamps in the feet, it may be possible to wire it into the controls and park it right over the cockpit. Then we can use the controls in the hunchback to pilot the ship. This doesn't solve the mystery inside, but would let us move the mystery to Nar Shada. We'd still have to slice the ship since it's locked down though. And I've seen enough horror movies to be cautious about bringing the contents to a habitable moon. :P

Since you bring it up, I'd actually also love to look for another way in. I will prioritize any initiative though that lets us get this wreck back to Nar Shada where we can do our works and investigation back at the junkyard. If that requires some effort and time from the rest of the team, I'll start looking for another way in (provided somebody could join me, haha).

Also throwing it out there, I don't want to leave without successfully procuring a TIE targeting computer. Not sure how we're gonna make that happen just yet. Wait for the imps to come back...? Probably not XD

I'll be your muscle.

I'm not sure I understand this question. An emergency what?

For anyone trying to find an alternative way in. Difficulty is average. You tell me how you find the hatch. Are you just wandering around looking for something appropriate, are you figuring out where it would be based on you mechanical aptitude, are you recalling that you learned about this type of ship during your education or something else?

I found it by walking around and digging a smudge to access entire door. Athletics. Would lower gravity offer a boost?

LOL fine why not. And you even have that entrenching tool. So sure you get a boost for the tool and the low gravity.
