Does your Army have a theme or background?

Interesting because the base of Waiqar's forces are soldiers so loyal to him they betrayed their nations and followed him into death.

"The way is shut! It was made by those who are dead, and the dead keep it. The way is shut!"

Notice how their demo model has bits like the chain skirt, belt, cloak, and shield that are painted ghostly, like the warrior was fading in and out of corporeality?

I kind of like the idea of painting them like that and varying which bits are ghostly or not between models like they are shifting in and out of solidity.

If we use that example though you should play an army of the dead who kill Waiqar and save the world :P

I love this ghostly look in the army painter guide for two reasons. 1) it's quick and 2) heroes, leaders and bannerghosts will really stand out against their spectral unit-mates

The legion of the Damned

Using unholy magic and covenants these soldiers all oath breakers, dishonorable, murderers, and thieves are pulled from the 9 Hells to fight the living. And from the eons of time there plenty of candidates.

The necromancers draw them and infused a victim. The flesh boils of the body leaving the glowing bones of the new soldier of the damned.

The lore guide spells out how Waiqar's first legion came to be, where black rain melted a whole mess of soldiers whose bones stood back up after some magic. I want to try to recreate the scene, mostly on the bases and trays. Will likely be going through a couple pots of Citadel's Blood for the Blood God.

Haven't really thought of anything fluffy for the Daqan, but i want whatever rock type I choose to paint my rune golems with to be consistent with my army's supposed origins. Ex: a volcanic type rock would indicate a more mountainous homeland. Just that little bit of fluff helps the army to look coherent if nothing else.
