Capital Ships

On a slight tangent, I wouldn't regard the Interdictor or Vic as battlecruisers. Generally speaking, compared to a battleship, a battlecruiser trades out either firepower or armour (more usually the latter) in return for speed.

So while the Assault frigate might qualify, I'd actually regard the Liberty as the most battlecrusier-like ship - it's far more mobile, but at the same time it not quite as tough as similar ships in its class.

As for the Interdictor or (especially) the Victory - let's just say that speed and maneuverability are not defining features...

Heavy Cruisers might fit them better - those are sometimes slower than comparable Cruisers.

Actually, I was going by Battlefleet Gothic terms, where (a bit of a divergence from wet navies, true) a Battlecruiser is an up-gunned cruiser (in that game usually meaning a dorsal (spinal) armament on top of the basic prow/ broadsides that a cruiser has), and a bit more hull points, but not the sheer mass of hull points or weapons a Battleship has.

Essentially that games' term for heavy cruisers.

In Battlefleet Gothic, Imperial Battlecruisers seem to be the direct analog to Chaos Heavy Cruisers - both tend to have the same number of hull points and shields as regular cruisers (8 Hull, 2 Shields), but have extra weaponry (and their main weaponry tends to be longer ranged too). They occasionally have better point defence turret values as well.

The ship that's intermediate between Cruiser and Battleship in BFG, is the Grand Cruiser, with 10 Hull and 3 shields (Imperial and Chaos Battleships usually have 12 Hull, 4 Shields)

Ah, ok. It's been an incredibly long time , I thought I remembered Imperial Battlecruisers had 10 hull over the 8 hull of cruisers.
