Hmmm...unit expansion boxes and command dials

By keltheos, in Runewars Miniatures Game

Aye, we got that. They should put these pix in the actual unit descriptions, not just in that one blog posts. ;)

The only thing in 8e i know theyre doing is rumor has it theyre removing walkers and theyre all gonna be MCs now (good, because it makes no sense that walkers are effectively weaker than infantry in the durability departure while MCs are easily the hardest non-apoc level thing to remove from the board)
Im not even buying the book, thats how little faith i have in GW right now. There are several 40k players in the area still that are active, i'll just borrow it to read it. Fully expecting to be selling my models soon, heck already had one guy offer to buy my tau lol

Back on runewars...

I think @drkpnthr has it right. The models w/o the dial revealed arent intended to be alone, which makes sense. Warmahordes does something similar where you can buy separate models that go to a different unit.

yes. adding dial to the unit leaders upgrade kit doesn't make sense for them although it would let you spread out the dials more from, say, the core box...

They're unit attachments in WMH, they are added to a unit, but never fielded alone.

(GW's turned quite a bit around recently. I was sour on some of their actions, but I appreciate them trying. Going to see what happens with 40k. Having a MASSIVE ork army and some chaos stuff too I'd hate to see the game founder. I think I've played maybe 3 games total of 7e outside of Horus Heresy at this point)

The reason it doesn't make sense is because there's no way to decide which dial to include. Those figures can go in either Reanimates units or Reanimate Archers units. Which dial do you include with the Infantry Command Expansion? Right now there are only Spearmen for the Daqan Lords, but in the future we'll see other infantry units and they'll be able to take the the Infantry Command upgrades as well.

both? ;)

Exactly. They could have but there's not enough reason to do so. I know some players want dials for every option they have...so like the core units that allow to be in block of 4 or 2 they wanted to see two dials already...:|

Dials are in the expansion packs (although strangely the Golem pack shows two deployment cards but only 1 dial)

but the real problem is the lack of the 'correct' number of dials in the core set/army boxes. This means that we will all have the trays for different formations, but not the dials.

I believe the golem pack's two deployment cards is for the siege upgrade and the unit itself.

Why do we need a deployment card if we are putting the golem in another unit as a siege upgrade?
