It's painting award, not best painted, so it could just as easily be effort based rather than talent based, "Hey look Lyraeus just completed painting his army, awesome job mate, you win the painting award for getting them done and finished!"
My hope is they go the OP league route with this game instead of just tournaments, and we see painting tracked through out the league...
A lot of the conversation here has been painting based, but I was more concerned with upgrades and models.
More specifically the command models. Say I want to take three of the banners... That's 75 dollars if conversions aren't allowed, or having the upgrade.
I think that's where ffg needs to be careful. While gw and other miniature games allow for such things, I will be significantly turned off from this game if it's ffg policy.
I understand it in terms of entire units being proxies/modifications but with one model who just joins other units anyways I find it super overcritical to demand players use your banner model. With xwing it made sense, with this game not so much

The boxes are Game Night kits. They are for however the store wants to use them. One Armada group in my area uses them as league prizes.
