Battlefront 2 teaser trailer with Imperial Raider

By Ken on Cape, in X-Wing

Nice glad they put it in game.

Not as pointy.... I feel safer.

We did it guys!

I want .000001% of the credit for that ship making into official universe stuff.

We all buy these things, making a successful game, which needs a big ship,so they invent one,and it gets in the big leagues.

Somewhere on that ship is a blinking condenser light that I funded.i get naming rights.

The V.E. condenser control.

I'll get Battle Front 2 just be cause of the Imperial Raider now. Well honestly I probably would have gotten it anyway. But now this clenches it doesn't it.

Yeah, the Imperial Raider is canon. Whoo Hoo!!!

That looks promising!

For all the hate it gets, I still occasionally enjoy the current one.

Including the Raider was a really nice touch!

Based on the timing of the voiceovers they really make it look and sound like that is the protagonist's own command ship. So cool.

But is it the Impetuous or the Instigator?

Seems SHOEHORNED in..... Im bored of the game already and its not even out!

Wow, you apparently got WAY more context out of those 20 seconds of fast cuts than I did!

I'm not a drooling PRE-ORDER IMMEDIATELY sort, but it looks pretty and in my opinion it's FAR too early to make ANY real quality judgements.

That said, f it's ANY better than the first one, I expect I'll be happy enough.

The only problem I see is that it is EA.

They do have some black spots on their record when it comes to how they have influenced games.

Ah, I play a few but not a lot of video games. Thanks

EA's got a bit of hit and miss reputation depending on the game and studio its contracted to. And their recent Star Wars work hasn't always been stellar, though I never got very far in TOR. The original EA Battlefront, for instance, is usually in about the low 70s on metacritic and that kind of matches my feelings on the game, it's very average. But Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 were very well received. Mass Effect Andromeda seems rife with technical problems, but I know friends who have enjoyed it. EA has stated they want to make improvements to retention for the new Battlefront, so we'll have to see what form that improvement takes. They've dug a bit of a hole in their reputation - being voted worst company in the US for a couple years by consumers and the like.

That is not to say everything associated with them is trash. @UnitOmega summed things up better than I did. While I am excited for Battlefront 2 and enjoyed their Battlefront 1, I had enough issues with the first one that I will probably be waiting for reviews before purchasing, unless press releases convince me that it will have the features I want.

In my (Very limited) experience they were one of the first (ab)users of the Micro transaction system, that caused a lot of other companies to adopt the same system.

Though in the Battle front 1 game, I finding more I like with the experience/ unlock method of that game compared to the BS that is say the Gears4 game (Not an EA game)

When did this occur? I don't pay much attention to video games, but I do remember when it came out everyone was raving about the game. Now all these threads about the new trailer keep emphasizing that the original us pretty hated.

As someone who played the first, what brought it down was the continued support of the game. The game felt a little bare bones at launch, but I excused that hearing they had more stuff in the works. But most of the content they added was hidden behind a pay wall of DLC and still didn't add enough for me. I had no interest in any of what the DLCs added until the Death Star one (because I was a Fighter Squadron nut), but I still didn't get it because at that point, me and my friends had moved on.

That being said, Battlefront is gorgeous! All the blasters look real, they felt good to shoot, and the maps were stunning looking. In a beta for it, I got into my first match and stopped to watch a butterfly fly up from the fauna of Endor...to be blown sky high myself for not paying attention to the enemy lobing grenades. But it was still worth it.

To me, Battlefront was a good proof that Dice could make a game that felt and looked like Star Wars, but didn't have enough content to sustain it. If Battlefront can prove to me that it has everything Battlefront 1 had, plus greater depth and scope of content, I'm all over it.

Does that mean that Raider is canon now ?

EA is literally Hitler.

The problem of BF was limited content (small number of maps, weapons, characters), ridiculously expensive DLCs, and shallow gameplay (no classes, arcady pickups, shooting, simplified flying and disappointing vehicles in general, very limited tactical options) .

At first people were impressed with how the game looks and sounds, but after that first shock wore off many realised that unlike games like Battlefield or CoD, this one doesn't have much to offer, not much diversity in gameplay and content and no room to get better because of the shallow mechanics, and very quickly the playerbase started getting smaller and smaller... And then DLC only accelerated the process by separating the remaining players.

I've heard the game is basically dead on PC. After 2 years, and a few months afer the latest DLC!

Currently there are 2,5k people playing it on PC, 28k on all platforms.

For comparison, BF4, a game that is two years older than BF:EA, and which already has a direct continuation, Battlefield 1, has 14k people on PC and 52k in total.

On top of it, there are still MORE players playing Battlefront 2 (ORGINAL VERSION NOT THE NEW EA) Across all platforms prob then the new Battlefront EA. EA releases there games full of bugs to the point they are unplayable, both online and single player (BF3 and BF4) micro transaction the **** out of most there titles (Battlefield Bad Company 2 all the way through Battlefield Hardline and prob on 1 too) on top of that, the Customer Service basically tells you to piss off, and deal with it. (Just in a slightly more respectful way....slightly....) EA is a company I blacklisted from my wallet, I refuse to buy any more titles from them. They dont deserve my money. Not untill I get some of my cash back for investing in **** titles.

Oh yea, ON TOP of all the above, they allow hackers to run rampate, and allow legit players to get banned by there "anti hack systems"

So....if you wanna throw away money at a game, that most likely wont work, be complete crap, but have shiny graphics, go for it. Ill keep my cash for better and brighter things.

Oh yea, As far as Im concerned, as stated above, the entire game will be shiny graphics over any gameplay anyway. so yea....I saw the graphics, Im good

Yeah, the more lessons and features Dice can take from the original Battlefront 2, the better.

Yes. It also appeared in the new canon book, Thrawn.
