Rank...8?

By MasterKazur, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Dellow Felegates.

Forgive me if this have been asked before.

The Hutt Crime Lord presented in the CR has a Resilience (IIRC) of 8. Given that the species presented in LoNH speak nothing of this bending of the rules, I am somewhat confused? Have I misunderstood the RAW and only Player Characters are capped at Rank 5 in any skill?

Any clarification on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, guys! :)

Generally, adversaries can have whatever they need, and are not entirely restricted by PC creation rules. There are a few creatures that have characteristics that exceed 6.

If you feel this is unfair for you players, I don't think it would hurt anything to cap adversaries though.

Ah, so NPCs can pretty much have whatever rank the GM sees fit. That makes sense. It just seems weird that this is the only example of a skill rank above 5, though.

Seems like a species-specific talent that enhances the Resilience of the Hutts (maybe boost dice or something like that) would have been a better fit.

I will respectfully disagree. Skill ranks are easier for book keeping and take less GM bandwidth during game play.

NPCs are allowed to break the rules and Resilience does not get used all that often anyway.

Same point to Adversary, this is just a less common version of that.

This also works the other way. You could have minions with a brawn of 3 and armor, and only have a soak of 2.

I can totally see that. Good point.

Thanks for the input :)
