Target Rich Environment

By Browncoat50, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey guys. Need some advice. Working on a Shara Bey Poe Dameron team.

Right now I'm at

Poe Dameron (8): Juke Auto Thrusters, comm relay, and R3 Astromech

Shara Bey (8): Veteran Instincts, targeting Astromech, weapons engineer and alliance overhaul.

What I need help with is my remaining 26 points. Should I run a rookie xwing? Two head hunters or a maxed out Lt. Blout? Maybe with ion pulse missiles, stealth device and then...???

Juke/R3/Comm Relay is 7 points worth of, "I hope this doesn't suck." Seeing this combo in the forums is becoming a pet peeve.

R3 isn't even good for Integrated Astromech; R2 is better for less.

Any Evade-dependent upgrade (Juke or Comm Relay) is a bad choice on a ship that has to spend more points (R3) to get an Evade token.

Shara will do more greens than reds. Targeting Astro isn't bad on her, but you should consider M9-G8, R7-T1 or R2-D2.

26 points gets you Jess Pava with R2 and Integrated, a StressHog, a fully loaded Ahsoka, and a host of other options better than a Rookie or a couple Bandits. LT Blount has uses, but gets PS killed easily, even with Stealth Device. There are very few 2-AGI ships that can make good use of Stealth Device. Vectored Thrusters better for a Z-95 that doesn't need Guidance Chips.

For 26 points and no other change I'd add Ashoka Tano, captured tie, Sabine crew, Sabines masterpiece, scavenger crane, thermal detonators. It's an awesome support ship (Ashoka provides a free PTL) and works well with Biggs (captured the means that she can drop bombs while never being targeted) with scavenger crane you can recover bombs too. So it's a cool support ship offering a free PTL with no stress and an incredible lone bomber. She will also be effective as you probably want to fly a tight formation thanks to Biggs and her ability helps that. If you can definitely chuck this build in. Hope that helped ^^ best of luck with your list building

You have 26 points. That is Biggs, no discussion there, especially when he protects a fragile ships like Poe.

I have to agree that it's hard to argue with the versatility of Biggs and how much he adds to essentially any list he's in, if you can find the points chuck R2D2 on him and he's even more insane.

26 points? Jess Pava, R2D6 and a free EPT. I like A score to settle. She's got full modded shots for the opening engagement and can muddle target priority because of that.

There is plenty of discussion on Biggs, but I agree he's good for protecting the Rebel's low-AGI ships.

Versatility? Biggs?

Biggs is the most 1-dimensional unique pilot in the game. The only thing Biggs adds to any list is five extra hit points. "Essentially any list he's in" must stay in formation, or Biggs is a waste. That is the opposite of versatility.

R2-D2 is only good on Biggs if you know you won't be facing any burst damage. Hardly insane.

Wow, thanks guys,

I've opted to swap Shara Bey for Braylen Stramm with R2D2, Nien Nunb, Vectored Thrusters and Alliance overhaul. I would want to use him as a blocker with a good dial for regenerating shields.

Then I would put Biggs with integrated Astromech, R5-X3 and seismic torpedo. I know IA and R5 are a little redundant, but I would think I could discard R5, shoot the torpedo and ignore how close I am to the obstacle. If I don'tget that chance I can still use IA to save some health.

This may not be that great, but it looks fun to me

I prefer R4-D6 in lists that don't feature Kanan. R2-D2 just is so expensive that it hurts too much when its ship dies quickly, like Biggs tends to.

I just answered your question on this in the Rules Forum. R5-X3 and Seismic Torpedo don't interract the way you want them to.

Dang, back to the drawing board

I always have a problem trying to put my astromechs on Biggs, it's tough to see r2d2 or any other decent mechs go down early, especially if they're regen based. Sometimes I'll just use Biggs with generic astro... with decent dice and a focus however Biggs can be tougher than you expect, not too easy to focus down in my experience (at least with ships in the current meta)
