Sorry if this is an obvious question but I'm new to LCG's. If I buy battlepacks, is it necessary to buy all 6 (as they are released), or can I just purchase a couple of them?

You can purchase battlepacks individually, no need to buy them all. Maybe there is a battlepack that you don't need for some reason... just skip that one and keep on playing with the rest.
