does this imperial list have what it takes (competitive)

By TheOz, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've been testing this list and it's very good, do you guys think it can survive the current new Meta

TIE Defender: · Colonel Vessery (35)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Ion Cannon (3)

Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)

TIE/D (0)

TIE/fo Fighter: · "Omega Leader" (21)

Juke (2)

Comm Relay (3)

TIE Avanced Prototype: · The Inquisitor (25)

Push The Limit (3)

Proton Rockets (3)

Autothrusters (2)

TIE/v1 (1)

-- TOTAL ------- 100p. --

Ion vessary is the real power tool, but using ion to control ships and stop k wings from flying over me

Omega leader because...well he is just an awesome finisher and a pain for any list

Inquisitor, most interchangeable part, but he also is killer in the end game and his procket helps me body slam a ship when I need to. Also autothrusters to help survive against turrets

What do you guys think, can it go toe to toe in this still uncertain meta

Yeah the list is fine, although personally, I'd rather have another heavy-hitter in there in place of Omega Leader. Pure Sabaac w/ VI, LWF + AA is 25 points, or even a bomber carrying a 4 attack ordnance strike of your preference. Omega Leader just doesn't add enough punch, imho.

I've been doing similar with Zeta Leader instead of the Inquisitor. I suspect your one is stronger but I don't like the aesthetics of the prototype ;)

The problem with pure sabaac in my experience is he is always the weak link, against high firepower turrets he gets one or two shots and dies, if he can arc dodge, sweet, but if he doesnt, he doesn't have the action economy to both be effective offensively and defensively. And trust me I love the ship and tested it a lot. He is great when he is your biggs, but in the list, vessary is always biggs, because that double attack murders certain ships. In my experience he is always the first target. Also he isn't nearly as good of an end game ship. This list plays the long game, even with all the fire power. Also he has no synergy with vessary, while omega never spends his lock until a ship is dead, so getting those rerolls is so easy. Plus omega leader is much better against turrets, just lock them and your pretty safe. And plus if they stress omega, he usually doesn't need to do actions if he already has Target lock and evade, while sabaac.....doesn't fair well against stress

I usually find that PTL is weak on the advanced prototype with the title as it gives u an evade and target lock for a single action. I do think that you should swap omega leader or the Inquisitor for a Tie Sf or for for a Tie Striker, Sabacc makes an awesome flanker (don't try joust) but I personally have about twenty game she under my belt with countdown and he does make an awesome Alpha Striker/Jouster with Stealth device as his ability (as discussed in the most recent FAQ) is considered a miss meaning that as long as he suffers damage due to his ability he never loses stealth device. I like the ion cannon on the tie D, it gives you good field control especially for Biggs as it almost controls his entire squad as they want to stick together. If you can fit QuickDraw definitely do, it's a mean damage dealer dishing out several attacks in one turn and in my experience won't be targeted because of this. Hope I was able to help. ^^
