I was wondering, could the evade you gain from the R3 astromech be used to trigger Juke. I think it should as you modify the attack dice so turn the eye to an evade before using it in the modifying defence.
Juke and R3 astromech
Sure. Attack dice get rolled first, so if you get an eye and cancel it for an evade token, your ship now has an evade token. Then defense dice are rolled and you can modify those dice using Juke. If you had a focus token, you could have used that eye result for an extra damage anyway, and you'd wish you had Crack Shot instead of Juke.
Yes, but you do have your evade for attacks back

... and you will wish you had a different astromech. One that isn't among the worst cards in the game.

You have your evade to cancel 1 incoming damage. You can't spend it more than once. Anytime you don't spend it on defense, the Evade token becomes the X-wing equivalent of Schrodinger's Cat.
It works.
It's really, really not worth the points and slots you invest in it, though.
Luke with this is hard to kill

Juke + R3 = 4 pts
R2-D2 = 4 pts and your EPT is still open.
1 regened shield = 1 evade token
The difference is you're not wasting a focus result on your attack roll.

Unless he's getting shot at by PS 8 ships with initiative or ships with PS 9 or higher. In that case the only thing R3 can ever do is provide an evade for Juke to work with.

I think that Juke + R3 is one of those combos that has such good results when the stars align that some people don't notice what they have to give up.
Here's what it takes for the combo to click:
1. It needs to be on a pilot that has a higher PS than the enemy ships.
2. They need to have an attack roll where a focus result would have gone unmodified.
3. The attack roll needs to be good enough that Juke causes an extra point to go through or forces the opponent to spend a token that they wouldn't have spent otherwise.
4. The ship with the combo needs to be attacked that round and get to spend the evade token on defense.
That's a lot that needs to happen just right to get value out of 4 points and the 2 best upgrade slots on an X-Wing. There's some games that the combo may work several times but there are likely to be just as many that you just get Juke to trigger once or twice. There really isn't much difference between Juking away an evade result or just having an extra hit result that needs to be canceled by evade results, definitely not enough of a difference to spend 4 points on.

Don't forget about the JUXE. X. HE-ROES!
3x RSV w/ Juke, R3, Comm Relay
Doubling down on the worst Astromech upgrade in the game with a 7 point investment to make it work is basically the ideal casual night list
