2 part question here.

By KuVenet, in Imperial Assault Campaign

So I have gone head first into Imperial Assault. I have purchased just about everything under the sun, or what I can get my hands on. My question is this. While I have plenty of opponents to play Skirmish with, its a bit more difficult to get players to do the actual Campaign. More than two characters and the wife started to get lost and it stops being as much fun for either of us. I know that there is the computer AI for Descent. I also know of there being something similar for it, for IA in the pipeline. However is there anything right now that can be used other than that one Automated Emperor app? I have found that one to be very confusing with no instructions that I can find for it.

Also the little sheets for Campaign only go for like 5-6 missions and a could of side missions thrown in there. Is that the cap on missions before you reset? Or is it just a guideline for the campaign and you can continue on if you want?

Thank you in advance, for answering my questions!

There are currently two types of campaign;

Full length, about 10-12 missions (Core, Return to Hoth, Jabba's Realm)

Mini length, about 5-6 missions (Twin Shadows, Bespin Gambit)

The mini campaigns are all pre-determined missions, with only a couple of variances depending on which side wins.

The full campaigns all have more missions variables, with additional choice side missions scattered throughout.

Once you've reached the finale of any one campaign, that story is completed. There is no official mechanic for continuing the same characters into the next campaign.

If you can find one other person, you could have 2 players controlling 2 rebel heroes each. We discussed in this thread what player to hero configuration we preferred, and 2 players with 2 heroes was pretty popular among a few players, myself included.

Of course, you'll still need to find an additional player, but that's at least easier than 3 additional players.

Another option is to Play by Forum: https://boardgamegeek.com/forum/1545140/star-wars-imperial-assault/play-forum.

I'm currently playing my first Play by Forum campaign and have found it to be pretty fun. I was initially a bit skeptical about the format and wasn't sure how complicated it would be to play this way but it actually works reasonably well. A real life campaign is still a better play experience, in my opinion anyway, but the Play by Forum still captures a lot of the fun of the campaign.

I never considered being interested in playing games in Play By Forum, but my enthusiasm and need to get to play more Imperial Assault overcame that.

BGG's Play By Forum is the reason the Vassal IA Campaign module exists, and myself using it is the reason new features get added.

I have finished 4 campaigns as IP - including 2 extended minicampaigns, and 1 as Rebel, with 1 campaign in limbo. https://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/218205/a1berts-imperial-assault-play-forum-campaigns .

I should be starting a couple of campaigns soon ... well, I should've already, but I'm dragging my feet.
