I put magnetizing in my own painting thread, as well. I don't have a step-by-step but I'll put one up. Just got new magnets today and need to do my spearmen.

Nice. Where's the paper clip? In the hole or on the base? That's fast. I am fortunate to have www.amazingmagnets.com near the house. I may just go in and size out cylinders that would fit in the holes and drop metal on the tray.

Basically you clip out the peg, then drill straight down in the center of where the peg was.
Insert paperclip into the hole with some glue, clip it so it's flush, done.
It's not a super strong hold, it's just enough that the models won't fall out of the trays, but you can easily pick one model up out of the tray without jostling the unit position at all.

Ah, I see, you buried it in the tray. Nice. Did you do the same with the cav?

Cavalry models are a bit heavier, so for them I do a magnet in the figure and a magnet in the tray.

When FFG drops the Runewars to Descent conversion kit?

I'm a little disappointed that FFG didn't use different color plastic for each of the factions.

Lol. Good call. However, not playing Descent so that's not a thing. But you could still glue in the base. The golem and the worm stand pretty well on their own.

I'm glad. After seeing the fiasco that is the Warmachine 3 starter boxes and the issues they had with colored plastics, soooo glad.

My core set may end up being the Krylon Matte Black army vs. the Rustoleum Silver army.

My reasoning is simple.
I've been in the hobby for 20 years and will probably be in for another 20. I really like what I see in Runewars, but chances are that it will not last a decade. When the game dies, I'll probably want to use the nice minis in other games with other basing schemes. A big monster on a 2 inch (aprox 50mm) square is much more amenable to other rulesets than a big monster on a 62mm square with puzzle piece edges.
Truth is I like the Runewars figs enough that my Rune Golems may end up in games of Song of Blades (my favorite warband skirmish game) throughout the life of Runewars. And who knows but that my entire Daqan army may want to challenge my Chaos KoW army to a throwdown somewhere between Terrinoth and Mantica...
As for magnetizing, I don't find it necessary. I'm going to store my figs in foam and they'll only be in movement trays when a game is being played. I've actually widened the hole in the bottom of all my figures' bases as the fit was too tight with it and I don't want to be forcing my minis into the tray once they have been painted. Probably should have just clipped the peg though...
Edited by eilifWidening the pin hole is a great idea.
I used a 1/8" drill bit (by hand) to do that very thing. I think the models work perfectly this way.
We played last night and now I'm seeing where the tight fit can be an issue in-game. A few were loose and a few were very tight. Going to think about options. I do like magnetizing for sure...
