MSU overkill

By emsgoof, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I'm tired of seeing MSU lists, and get very little enjoyment in playing them. So, I've decided to just go overboard with them to get something out of it. The idea behind it is stay at range with the Nebulons and the CR90As, and ram with the CR90Bs.

Commander: General Dodonna

Assault Objective: Close-Range Intel Scan
Defense Objective: Jamming Barrier
Navigation Objective: Salvage Run

Nebulon-B Support Refit (51 points)
- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits ( 7 points)
= 58 total ship cost

= 58 total ship cost

- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits ( 7 points)
= 58 total ship cost

[ flagship ] CR90 Corvette A (44 points)
- General Dodonna ( 20 points)
- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits ( 7 points)
= 71 total ship cost

CR90 Corvette A (44 points)
- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits ( 7 points)
= 51 total ship cost

CR90 Corvette B (39 points)
- Engine Techs ( 8 points)
- SW 7 Ion Batteries ( 5 points)
= 52 total ship cost

- SW 7 Ion Batteries ( 5 points)
= 52 total ship cost

If you really want to go ham on this list, I'd suggest trying to fit in all the usual suspects from these sorts of lists, notably a Spinal or DTT Salvation (Intel Officer if you're really rude), and turning one of the B's into a Leading Shots Dodonna's Pride. In short, I'd run something like this, and use the second Neb as the squadron pusher after she and Salvation throw everyone into battle.

Emsgoof's Revenge

Faction: Rebel Alliance
Points: 400/400

Commander: General Dodonna

Assault Objective: Opening Salvo
Defense Objective: Hyperspace Assault
Navigation Objective: Dangerous Territory

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57 points)
- Salvation ( 7 points)
- Dual Turbolaser Turrets ( 5 points)
= 69 total ship cost

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57 points)
- Dual Turbolaser Turrets ( 5 points)
= 62 total ship cost

CR90 Corvette B (39 points)
- Engine Techs ( 8 points)
- SW 7 Ion Batteries ( 5 points)
= 52 total ship cost

CR90 Corvette B (39 points)
- Dodonna's Pride ( 6 points)
- Leading Shots ( 4 points)
= 49 total ship cost

[ flagship ] CR90 Corvette A (44 points)
- General Dodonna ( 20 points)
- Jaina's Light ( 2 points)
- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits ( 7 points)
= 73 total ship cost

CR90 Corvette A (44 points)
- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits ( 7 points)
= 51 total ship cost

4 A-Wing Squadrons ( 44 points)

Hmm... Needs more ship activations. Maybe put intel on the Salvation and add a flotilla and drop the A wings, because let's face it, full speed ahead and ignore the fighter screen.

Quantum Storm is very good at ramming flotillas to death....

That's a bit of a fireship, or is that the point?

If need be. Very versitile. It can double ram without dying so can finish of an escaping ship if need be.

What is an MSU fleet?

QS is very nice both offensively and defensively. Only one specific ship build in the game (ET CR90) can outrun it, meaning you can flee or chase pretty much anything, as the situation dictates. Obviously, there's the double ram.

Also has a pretty nice little trick with Slicer Tools if you can set it up:

Mutliple Small Units. No ISDs or MC80s in the fleet but several cheap and fast ones instead. The idea here is to kill enemies "with a thousand cuts", so you throw only a few dices at a time, but several times, wearing down the enemy's defenses instead of blowing them away with one huge volley.

Why no MC80? :)

Not entirely, don't forget MSU became a "thing" because of the power of one very nasty last first activation set with demo or MC30.

Well yeah. But this particular MSU focuses on the thousand cuts.
