Astrid will take a strain for the threat, but rockfall is so ubiquitous, that I thought I'd narrate it as such (though hopefully, it won't adversely impact any of her companions, or others).

ill be back for a couple days before i leave somewhere else, so i'm trying to catch up while at a rest stop!!
Edited by TheShardI was thinking the reference might be the reincarnated heroes trope, or the trapped between dimensions method of dealing with foes, but I can't think of anything Star Wars specific.
I know I've encountered the "heroes from the old painting, returned" before, and Stranger Things is a recent example of the "trap the bad guy in another plane" concept.
Much in our story is familiar (in a good way), but not trite or predictable.
Edit to add:
Quote( (okay everybody chooses a single low-level force power))
Astrid already committed 5 xp (of the 10 required) toward the Seek basic power. Can I choose that power, and use the 5 xp for something else? @April

Are you referencing the manner the Ancient One and her followers are capable of reading us? Grokking? Stranger in a Strange Land? @April
I am switching internet providers. Hopefully will be up and running this week. @April maybe Durrak can find some ancient texts that interest him and returns to the ship to study.

Hmmm.....I haven't looked at the force powers recently. I'll try to do that sometime this week. What's considered low level? Or was this just for the force users?

You too, just one of the very starting powers if you can

I'm just going to take the Sense basic power, if that works? It should help narrate Astrid's awakening, and awareness of the Force around her.

Don't let this story die!
I don't think this campaign is in terminal danger!?!?
@April just has us spoiled, with nigh daily posts.
Ok new ISP up and going.
Just an FYI for everyone I'm going to be on vacation from the 29th to August 5th. I'll post and check in if I can, but no promises. Not sure how good the internet is where we are going so that may play a role.
So.. I hadn't planned on going quite that route, anytime soon, at least... but... it was right there! just dangling in front of me! How do you say No to a frelling lightsaber?!
Ok, after looking at the force powers I think Bind would be my first choice, but I noticed that needed Force level 2 so I'm not sure if that counts as basic. Second choice would be Protect/Unleash, but that one needs 3 so same issue. The choices I liked at Force level 1 would be Surpress or Misdirect.
@Edgehawk wow thanks for that perfect setup! I was reading an EU graphic novel and saved my "What is a lightsaber" quote from Darth Vader just yesterday. Didn't think I'd get to use it so soon!
@April Am I right that you gave 10 xp to add a basic force power?
Yep. She did!
I now have started down my path of Force Sense...
& Great quote Bennar!
@TheGuardian118
@Edgehawk
, great posts btw...
Okay.. So I was recently called out in a forum for not having a whip. I made my excuses, but then realized that I hadn't even bothered to narrate an Adventure Hat. More important to an Explorer than a signature abilty, even, is signature headgear. For my own adventures IRL, when a helmet is not required, I have my Tilley hat.
To correct this, I would like to describe her mountaineer armor helmet as being of a Pith design, complete with her hunter goggles:
@April If you're still contemplating an artistic rendering of the party, and it is not too late, perhaps something of this nature?
Glad to have you back, and hope you are feeling better.
Except you won't catch Astrid in a Victorian dress anytime soon... and her goggles are more starwarsy, and less steampunky.
Edited by EdgehawkLOL... Yeah, I just read your posts, Edgehawk, and that's a good look as well as a great Spec to check to out! Yorik is going Arbiter and focusing on the right half of the Tree and would be more than happy to work together and train with you. It's even fitting nicely for our storylines.
By the way, I picture your character from your other picture posts as looking most like the explorer in your upper left pictures... But not in a Victorian dress but rather the Rogue One style mission suit. (Mountaineer armor after all)
But, more important than focusing on the stats for the optimized Lightsaber Spec, what about the other Talents in the Trees most interest you? Other than being awesome with a Lightsaber, since we know you're going to consider keeping your blaster as your primary weapon, you can then focus on going for the other Talents and then just boost your Lightsaber skill as needed.
Edited by CartergameHmm.. I don't mind some overlap, but I think I'd prefer to bring something unique to the table. Arbiter has some cool talents, but if Yorik is taking that spec, I might pick up Soresu instead. Lots of defense, plus Strategic Form!
Yorik was able to re-spec from Enforcer to Arbiter thanks to the group's suggestion so he's a Mercenary w/ Force Sensitive Exile & Arbiter since creation. While I'd like to see Shii-cho Knight... I don't see the XP coming any time soon to pursue that path realistically so I'm just focusing on what we've done narratively so far. Which in Yorik's case, works out to be Telepathy & Force (Sense) with Sar Agorn, training with Sar Agorn and the Lightsaber, and bonding with the group. Also, shooting things.
But, yes, with Lightsabers in the mix the PARRY Talent now becomes ESSENTIAL!!!
By the way, I love that post title, "The Accidental Saberist" That's hilarious...
With Shard modifying your Saber to a Shoto or modifying your "Shoto that you received from the Ancient One", you'll be able to get some interesting boosts from your weapon that you may just decide to wield in your offhand the entire game for reflection purposes.
Thanks to Bennar, in our next combat encounter our combat Stats will get another boost too!
So, all in all, I'd say we're in a pretty good position moving forward...

That's awesome! And a much better fit for Yorik.
I'll probably pursue Soresu, playing to Astrid's strength, and the defensive options really are excellent. Taking the lightsaber form means I will need to work through the FSE tree to gain a second force rating, though.
I just hope all is well with our GM... Sending positive thoughts that way, in any case.

Glad to hear it! Sorry you are experiencing such difficulties with your health, but I look forward to resuming the story, when you are feeling up to it.
