Krennic's Shuttle

By LordTesla, in Star Wars: Armada

Think we'll ever see Krennic's shuttle in Armada? Like a suped-up Lambda? Kind how the Interceptor is a slightly better and more expensive TIE Fighter?

Eventually yes we might, but I doubt we'll see another squadron pack for a year or so. We'll probably get alternate squadrons and heroes for the Wave II squadrons first like in another campaign.

I'm half hoping for a new squadron to introduce a keyword that address the activation dilemma.

I'd be pretty happy with a Lambda-type that replaced, say, the 'strategic' keyword with something like 'coordinator: during the ship phase, you may toggle the activation slider on this squadron to its 'activated' side instead of activating a ship'.

I'd love something like that from the Lambda, but I'd take an Upsilon-class, or Delta-class shuttle that did the same...

That increases the activation issues. You are now providing a cheaper option than flotillas to delay activations for MSUs. Remember that any solution that is intended to make a fix to the activation problem need to not help MSUs as well.

This would sort of be a double edged sword for msu tho, since they probably dont have the antisquad complement to keep those things safe.

That said, I too am skeptical that it would alleviate the issue its targeting.

What about "During the ship phase, you may activate this squadron instead of activating a Large ship".

Edit: Maybe even put this only in Krennic's unique card just like Han Solo's effect

Well a large portion of Imp lists run an ISD. I think ~70% of the top 4 lists for Imps had one. So Krennic is really only beneficial if you face a Rebel, or a DeMSU. Otherwise you end up with a dead squad. You pass, and your opponent passes back to you. Maybe it could be useful, but what would the cost be? And why not take a Gozanti at that point? It's an activation AND a deployment.

I don't think the activation mechanic can be changed on an upgrade/ability level. It has to come from the core rules.

Medium or large.

Quit hatin' on the VSD, everyone...

Wording isn't great. If I did this I would leave it at "exhaust this card instead of activating a ship." More effective is to limit the upgrade to large or medium bases. Very few people are building an MSU with a medium ship.

Indeed. And as you are toggling the slider on it, the squadron in question is neither moving nor shooting. So basically a sitting duck - certainly going to need protection. Might make sense to require it to fly along with the fleet, too, though, so they don't just get deployed in the corners and sit there (which isn't entirely anti-thematic for an JSTARS-type of unit, but makes them harder to counter, which isn't great).

So what about, in net-net, something like this for a new keyword on the Delta/Upsilon/Sentinel/whatever squadrons...

"Coordinator-3: during the ship phase, you may toggle the activation slider on this squadron to its 'activated' side instead of activating one medium or large ship within distance 3"

Exhausting a squadron card?

Ah. Wasn't clear. Exhausting a crew/officer upgrade restricted to large and medium base ships. I see an activation delay squadron as too inneffective or even making things worse

That would be simply be a nice upgrade card. "During the ship phase, you may activate the slider of an unactivated Strategic squadron at close-medium range instead of activating a ship." If you want to present it as an alternative to flotilla spam (an alternative, not a nerf, to flotillas) make it an upgrade slot that neither of the current flotillas have.

Can we not get another small ship that can effect the game so hugely as the lambda....?
