Best x wing video to show to a newbie?

By force kin, in X-Wing

I've a friend who is just getting into x wing.

What's your opinion on the best video to show said friend in order to a)stoke his excitement by showing intricate maneuvers, blocks, edge of the seat dice rolls, b) help him understand the basics of the game - to date he's only ever played the introduction with no abilities or actions, so basic stuff laid bare would be great, c) both a and b

Thanks dudes! And dudettes!

My first super exciting game to watch that got me hopped up on this game was the world's final with han vs. whisper and a miniswarm.

That one might be good because it's not overly complicated by upgrades.

I can't link it but it's the 2014 or 2013 I think.

I leave this home made video here, not instructional whatsoever... but if this doesn't make you want to play X-Wing... I don't know what will.

For me it was when they played X-Wing on Tabletop.

But I will also toss this out there, since I've got to shameless self-promote my own stuff as well!

The Battle of Scarif. It's about 1h30 into Rogue One. ;)

Then play Epic!!

For b) watch the FFG instructional video. Then watch a good quality video from the likes of Team Covenent, ideally with X-Wings and TIEs.

Might as well go with the greatest game of X-Wing ever, 2013 World's Final (Paul vs Dallas):

Actually it was Crabbok's videos who got me into X-Wing. I had only stumbled on the miniatures because of some random ad on the net, peeked my interest. YouTube'd it and his videos came up.

I'm a big fan of Thrawn's videos, they're great to watch. The Mini Wargaming guys seem to have a ton of fun in their Combat Maneuvers videos.

Will Wheatons one (some rules aren't right, but it's a fun video to get people interested)

Then FFG rules vids

Then Team covenant vids

second the FFg vids

I got hooked because of the FFG video as well. Though it really simplifies the game compared to what's all involved with it now.

Lol. You beat me to it. 100% agree. Read the post title and immediately thought of this

That Interceptor pilot is why I have renamed Mauler Mithel to Mauler Mustache when I use him...

And that combat stache has deflected many a laser blast.

I like Trinity Squad Gaming for fun fights because their editing makes it easier to understand. Just pause at the beginning to explain the lists since the commentators don't do that.

also for ship expansion breakdowns I like the CardboardDungeon

That match from Worlds 2013 that Deroche posted is a great one to learn from. It has basic actions, and shows superb flying.

Also, most games from Nathan Eide. He flies aces and you can learn quite a bit.

Against triple scouts:

Against Brobots. Watch this to learn the power of blocking. His little prototype A-wing is MVP:
