Stele Open sound off

I tried to explain my position. Pete concluded that since the squadron wasn't moving as part of an activation, it didn't apply. I dunno. I went about my business after the decision. No point in arguing. My opponent wasn't happy that I wasn't engaging and I was just collecting tokens all day and challenged the card.

Yeah, I would have sided with you. It's the same reason you can repair a squad on the station with FCT or a cloak move. It's only a distance 1 move and be locked down pretty easily. If your opponent was upset you were collecting tokens, he should have a) brought/picked better objectives or b) engaged your VCXs.

Regardless, the TO's word is final for the day. Pete ran a damned good tourney otherwise.

A move is a move is a move.

If it's not a move it will say stuff like 'place' instead.

It was a great day looking forward to see the final standings. All 4 opponents were great to play against. Except @Truthiness :) jk

Don't make me ram that lifeboat again. I'll do it.

What were the top 4 lists?

You may be up a creek on that unless the people post them here. Nobody collected fleet Sheets.

Best I can reconstruct from what I've heard , #1 was something like:

Fleet 80 (383/400)
=================
Imperial I-class Star Destroyer (110 + 20)
+ Admiral Ozzel (20)
Raider I-class Corvette (44 + 7)
+ Ordnance Experts (4)
+ Flechette Torpedoes (3)
Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 + 2)
+ Comms Net (2)
Gozanti-class Cruisers (23)
Gozanti-class Cruisers (23)
Maarek Stele (21)
Darth Vader (21)
Colonel Jendon (20)
Major Rhymer (16)
TIE Defender Squadron (16)
Zertik Strom (15)
Tempest Squadron (13)
Tie Bomber Squadron (9)

My informant sits upon a throne of lies.

And if this is what your meta looks like out there, 1) I feel bad for you guys cause that looks stupid boring, and 2) yeah, your problem is Relay, not flotillas--kill the Relay and win.

#1 had Demo, Raider; 3x Goz, and a well rounded list of squadrons, with a shuttle and jendon. No BCC if I recall, not really a bomber list. Vector and chirpy on one of the Goz. Think 2 of the Goz had ExpHangers. He plays his list very well.

#4 (me) Had a loaded MC80 Defiance w/ Crackbar, XI, IO, LS, FCT, ECM; TRC90 JL; TRC90; Gr75; Gr75 w/CN,Leia. 3xVCX,3xZ95s. 395 bid. Advanced Gunnery, Comms Net, Fire Lanes. Went second all games. Played AG once, and comms net x3. Many tokens were had.

I had first and this was my list.

I can only tell you for certain that my list wasn't anywhere near the top 4

I took 3rd with:

MC80A Defiance, Ackbar, Walex, Leading Shots, Xi7, AP, ECM

Mc30 Scout, TRC, Foresight

2 naked Transports

Squads - Biggs, 2 X-wings, 2 VCX, Hwk

Adv Guns, Sensor Net, Fire Lanes

Went second all day (outbid all 4 opponents at 395......)

------------

Had a great time overall, but lunch was an issue. Still love the new mat and the custom cards though!

I will post final rankings. They are on NoVA Fleet. I went home after the tourney and packed for vacation the next day :-)

I will also post a complete reasoning on my ruling later as well. I won't be debating it, but I will post my reasons.

Daryle did what all good players should and took it in his stride. He's a great guy and a great mate to either TO for or play against :-)

@Englishpete The only reasoning you need is that you should always rule against @Tyrant1919 . Always.

Literally built almost this exact fleet a couple weeks ago. Glad to see you had such success with it. Would love to hear your thoughts on what, if anything, you would swap.

Hahaha, ok. I have another one. I remember Pete called a shot obstructed at another tourney he was TOing. Was it NOVA? I can't remember. There was an obstacle underneath the ship I was shooting directly under the dot, but not obstructing otherwise. It wasn't FAQd yet, so Pete ruled it obstructed. So Pete is 2/2 for rulings against me so far. :^).

Thanks for the kind words Pete. It's always a pleasure playing in tournaments you run.

As for TTC, may the rest of your Armada games be played against Y-wings and CRam90s. And your evade re-rolls cause more damage. And all your face ups are structurals or projector misaligneds.

Full results are up, but no lists.

If anybody wants to see how to come in 18th of 37, let me know and I'll gladly share my list.

That's only one spot below me. :P Still, middle of the pack is better than scraping the bottom like I did last year.

......let's just say I'm below both of you and leave it at that

29th of 32...you know you want my list.

The thing I took away from this tourney, more than anything else, was what a great group of players you all were. The whole day was spent in the spirit of sportsmanship, everyone having a great time, playing a game we all love.

It's one of the reasons I TO for these things, I know I'm going to be with a great bunch of folks who, whilst playing to win, realize its plastic spaceships and treat each other with respect, have a sense of humor and just have a good time.

I have to say Stele was a better experience than any of my Regionals. Not to say I didn't enjoy my times there, but Stele was a great mix of competition and straight up love of a game amongst my peers. At no point was I dreading my next game.

Even though @Englishpete murdered my last name all day. Don't worry... I've never experienced anybody other than my family and @Drasnighta being close to correct pronunciation.

I did butcher it horribly mate and I do apologize :-)
