I went, and had a great time. I was wondering if the others who attended would be willing to sound off, just to see who all from here was there.
Plus, this way we can not take over Cubanboy's Happy Friday thread lol

Edited by Audio WeaselI was there. Really enjoyed the whole event. Great to meet you guys @Audio Weaseland @Stasy
I'm pretty sure @Englishpete was the TO and I know @Truthiness was there. I witnessed him dropping the hammer game 4 with Liberty on an ISD the table next to me.
TO was definitely @Englishpete. He's good people. Knows the rules inside and out, and has a great sense of humor
Edited by Audio WeaselI had a ball! Can't wait for more fighting with my new Mustafar playmat. My big takeaway was that activation-tastic lists were the way to go. And that I need a solution to the CR90rammers... Thanks to @Englishpete for TOing (and for tarot card holders!)!
Oh, and does anyone have a link to the rankings please?

Pete was indeed the TO.
My Lib got very angry that game. 3 reds and 4 blues maxxed out their damage against the front of an ISD. That's right, 3 double hits on 3 reds. I think it was tired of dying. That was the only game it survived all day.
I was there too and I had a blast. Well run in terms of the TO but it felt like Armada was an afterthought. I could have sworn they said they were going to provide either lunch or dinner but maybe I am wrong.
@Lord Preyer I dont believe they ever posted any rankings.
Edited by OverdawgI think the standings will be up tomorrow.
I had the same thoughts and feelings @Overdawg

But I do have to give them some credit because there was a full set maps on each table and the space was awesome. A huge improvement from the Maryland Regional, which was a joke.

I was under that impression too when I bought the ticket, but they made some announcements in advance that lunch was only going to be provided Saturday and Sunday. It may have only been on the Whova App, though. All around much much better than MD Regionals. I can't decide if I would have preferred to have it on Saturday or Sunday. On the one hand, I know a number of players couldn't make it because of work, to include Kwak and Q. On the other hand, I think scheduling against X-Wing might have driven numbers the other way and probably made us feel more like the redheaded stepchild.
I think we can all agree that someone needed to take that mic away from the Destiny guy and have it spiked in a fish tank. I couldn't hear my own opponent at some points. Pete didn't need a damned mic, so why did Destiny?
Edited by TruthinessI thought dinner was arranged actually. I'm torn because I ended up finding an awesome Pho place, but still...
I do have the same feelings as you guys. What do you do? Schedule a Friday and lose out on players because it's a work day for most or do you take it up against X Wing and lose those who wouldn't give that up for it?
And man, once those Destiny guys got going, I barely could hear myself think. But when you jam 100+ people into a room, that tends to happen.
I was there too! I enjoyed the event, and it was great seeing @Stasy, and meeting and playing @*Lord Preyer, who had a wonderful commitment to actually placing a VIP on our Capture the VIP token. Colonel Jendon had experienced quite enough shuttle duty for Lord Vader it turned out!
I agree with the balance of opinion here - probably some hard choices to be made either way. Ultimately, very happy to have gotten in 4 games in a setup with plenty of space for Armada-ing and great TO-ing! And just nice seeing so many people out for the event.
Things of note from me:
1. Tables were well made. Plenty of space.
2. I was hoping for sandwiches, but meh.
3. Got to play the winner Jeff in round one, helped boost him to the top. Learned to be more aggressive with AG mc80.
4. Pete ruled fighter coordination teams do not work with strategic in round 4. Strategic and fct was crucial to the workings of my list. Used it extensively in rounds 2, 3, and 4 though.

Wait what?
Always a fun time.
The players were great. Fun to play everyone and meet new people. Saw some interesting lists and interesting flying. The layout was really good.
other thoughts:
1 saw no lunch on the final fact sheet but it said cheap food trucks would be there. No food trucks at all. ![]()
2 thought armada got less attention compared to last year but it was not going to be there at all.
3 better prizes for the winners and amazing door prizes.
4 swag back was so good again as always.
5
no snacks for us until the last battle and the drinks it was a small bit annoyance to have to walk to the bar for pop.
6 it seemed less vendor support than last year. I remember the shop bringing ships of all types for xwing, armada and other games. This time there was only a victory to off load at 20% off. Was looking to get some more squads.
7 I like the 4 game and then final 4 go for round 5.
8 look forward to next year.

Why would they?
Because Strategic triggers off of a move, and FCT is clearly a move.

Why wouldn't they?

Strategic procs when you end your movement. FCT allows your squadron to move. Pretty cut and dry.
That makes no sense. Strategic involves moving tokens, FCT involves moving fighters. What are you combining?

When FCT allows a VCX-100 or Lambda to move, and it ends that move at distance 1 of a token, the VCX-100 or Lambda can move that token.
That seems obvious enough, that was the issue?

I mean, I wasn't there, so I'm making the assumption that's what @Tyrant1919 meant, but that's the only interaction I know of between Strategic and FCT.
I dunno, maybe @Englishpete can elucidate his reasoning. Even TO's are human, though--mistakes happen.
I tried to explain my position. Pete concluded that since the squadron wasn't moving as part of an activation, it didn't apply. I dunno. I went about my business after the decision. No point in arguing. My opponent wasn't happy that I wasn't engaging and I was just collecting tokens all day and challenged the card.

Hey man, was good to meet you. Very fun game.

Agree there, no point arguing with the TO in the moment.
