Couple of rules questions

By Ken on Cape, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

1. If an enemy is engaged with an investigator, are the only actions that investigator is allowed to do on there turn is fight or get away?

1. I see some cards with wording "max 1 committed per skill test." I assume that means that card can only be played once per test?

1. Nope, you can take any action you want. However, the Enemy will attack you (this is called an Attack of Opportunity) if you take any Action other than Fight, Evade, Parley, or Resign. NB those first 3 actions don't have to be directed at the Enemy in question. If you're engaged with you 2 and Evade one, the other one does not get his AoO.

2. Max 1 committed is a per-player limit, I believe. I may be mistaken on that. But yes, just follow the card text. You may commit only a maximum of 1 copy of that card (by title) to any individual skill test.

"Limit" effects are player-specific unless otherwise stated, such as with the phrase "group limit," and appears on cards that remain in play. This kind of limit can also be reset, in a manner of speaking, if the card leaves play and is replaced by another copy, or even if the same copy leaves play and returns.

"Max" effects apply to cards like Events or Skills that are played or committed from hand, and apply to all copies (for all players) of that card, by title, for the duration listed. The skill cantrips like Guts are the most obvious examples -- only one copy can be committed per test no matter how many players have a copy handy.

This is how I interpreted it, and how we play it.

“Max X per [period]” imposes a maximum across all copies of a card (by title) for all players. Generally, this phrase imposes a maximum number of times that copies of that card can be played during the designated time period. If a maximum includes the word “committed” (For example, “Max 1 committed per skill test”), it imposes a maximum number of copies of that card that can be committed to skill tests during the designated period. If a maximum appears as part of an ability, it imposes a maximum number of times that ability can be initiated from all copies (by title) of cards bearing that ability (including itself), during the designated period.

If the effects of a card or ability with a limit or maximum are canceled, it is still counted against the limit/ maximum, because the ability has been initiated.
