Negative effects of Conflict points?

By DimpleLoamsdown, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

I realize that this topic might have already been spoken about somewhere else, but I could not find it anywhere.

I recently started playing Star Wars Force and Destiny with some friends and I saw that a bunch of abilities said that I would gain a conflict point or two if I used them.

I could not find an explanation anywhere of what the negative effects of conflict points are, if there are any.

Could someone please explain the mechanics of Conflict points to me.

Thanks, Dimple L

Page 48-52 covers Morality; conflict is a component of that system. There's more info in the GM section.

Look up the Morality rules.

In the F&D core look at page 52-53 for the effects (previous pages for gaining Conflict) and page 325 (GM section).

Basically, gaining Conflict affects your Morality score, and your Morality score can make you a paragon of the light side or darks side (a PC falls to the dark side). A paragon affects the destiny pool and potentially has their Wound/Strain thresholds altered.

Narratively Conflict and Morality measure how close the PC is to the light or dark side of the Force.

So if you have a higher conflict you lose morality points?

You will tend to. If you get 1-4 Conflict in a session, your Morality might vacillate a little but generally won't go down much, so it's usually not a big deal if you get a few points. If you're getting 5+ Conflict per session though, you're probably on the express train to the Dark Side.

Alright!

Thank you all very much!
