I sent the follow up question twice, never got a response. Guess I could always try again.

To be honest, they probably realized they made a mistake with the first ruling and are trying to settle on a damage control plan. As we discussed when the ruling was made, there's no sensible way to justify it given the wording of the rules.

To the OP, I would suggest finding the old thread about this ruling, reading why it doesn't make sense, and then disregarding it. Influence should work with Scathing Tirade.

I honestly doubt they would bother putting that kind of effort into this product line based just on the dev answered question that I initially asked. Keep in mind that AoR has been out for a couple of years now and they haven't even produced an FAQ for it yet (including the admitted obvious mistake of the Sentinel class landing craft); instead the only FAQ is for EoE, and that FAQ is several years old now. Compare that to the FAQ that comes out every six months or so for X-wing, and includes rule changes to correct obvious imbalances found in the game.

If anything, the reason there is no answer to the question is because Sam is a very busy man working on other product lines that are probably contributing more to FFG's bottom line; and I can understand and respect that.

Finally I would add that stacking Influence with Scathing Tirade doesn't really break anything, so if you want to allow it, I don't see an issue. You can cause just as much strain damage just using the Influence basic power + strength upgrade and its easier to pull off since the target only gets a 'save' if it is a plot critical Rival or Nemesis.

I am in fact playing an Armorer/Warden...which sadly does not get the Improved & Supreme Versions of Scathing Tirade....sadness...but I can still buy up the Control thing...

Dont be too sad , have a look how good you results are even with a 5 yellow coercion check. Its major advantage is messing with movement with no escape and with 5 yellow , you would be lucky to trigger no escape twice.

I'm honestly not all that worried, plenty of other things the character can do, especially with armorer...basically I'm an MMO Tank-class, complete with Taunts...8D
