Hope everyone has an amazing weekend.
This weeks question is why do you play Armada?

This weeks question is why do you play Armada?
Wohoo! First to reply
Answer? 'Cos I can!
To fill the emptiness. Joking. I have no space left to put games or colors any more.
To forget about all the violence, hate and grief in life for a while!
Happy Friday!
For me it's the manoeuvre tool / movement system that really does it. That's by far my favourite part of the game. There's just something incredibly satisfying about laying down the manoeuvre tool (purposefully avoiding the common abbreviation here) and finding the best combination of clicks to get where you want.
That and what Triangular said.
Honestly? I'm addicted....
All my friends thought that when I named my company "ArmadaFix" it was because the Squadron Command Plate I designed "fixed" part of the game...
nope...
I meant it as the informal "a dose of a narcotic drug to which one is addicted".
lol
I play it because it is the game I've been waiting for since 1977!
I play because Star Wars has been in most of my life and I loved it all the way through, in special the space fights. Space warfare is something I'm really interested in (ABSOLUTELY LOVED ISDs from the first time I saw it), as well as strategy, so Armada just gives me the hapiness of the things I enjoy mostly in life
Happy Friday everyone!
The reason I play Armada is that I have been hooked since the day my son brought it home. It is THE best strategy game I have ever played. When people ask me to best describe Armada, I tell them "It is Star Wars Chess"...
Reasons I play Armada? In no particular order...
Star Wars
Naval-esque combat with over the top flair.
Really good mechanics and balance in general (there are issues with both of course)
Pre-painted minis. I am a terrible painter so while I play other games with gorgeous minis I get knocked by some of my opponents because they are being fielded unpainted. While with Armada I only had my squardrons for a month before I based them, nuln oil and did some small other little marks on them, so now oddly I'm the one with "painted" minis.
I can find opponents.
A most pleasurable Friday to you all!
Reasons? I've gotten plenty of friends into different miniatures games through the years, and well, turnabout is fair play.
But mostly because dang, that ISD model is pretty.

...... because 40k requires a dedicated room that I don't have, whereas Armada requires one box for storing ships and a yoga mat to play on.
I love fleet combat and star wars. putting the two together is heaven. Everybody wish mcworrell good luck at the stele open!!
because...
it's...
STAR WARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've had the bug since i first saw that Corellian Corvette desperately trying to escape a Star Destroyer...
It was a happy Friday, playing 4 games at the Stele Open.
It's interesting, if you asked me yesterday morning why I play this game, I would have said because Star Wars. But, yesterday a Destiny player asked me why I would spend money to play a game on a table that could easily be played better on a computer. After thinking for a second I realized that it is the community. Yesterday 38 guys got together and played with toys and rolled dice and had a great time either at the top or at the bottom of the standings. Combine that with all the time spend talking and thinking and debating on here and my answer to this question is one word....community.
Edited by mcworrellI have written a concise article about exactly this question and I think it covers every single aspect of this question that can be covered.
I have already posted a link to this article in this forum. However, if you missed it, here it is:

I think mcworrell called it here. I was at the same event. Even played him in the final round (that was a great time, man, looking forward to seeing you at other events). The game is great, Star Wars is great, but I wouldn't do that to my lower back if it wasn't for the people I was playing with.
Happy belated Friday!!! I Ithink I got into it because I like Star Wars and it was on sale at Amazon. But I've stayed because of the people I meet.
I too attended Stele and while I had a good time playing and everyone was super awesome, the event itself kinda left me...wanting.

I agree...there was something missing. I'm not sure what. It was great getting to play against you.

I was wearing a Shirt with a dog dressed like Boba Fett. Also rocked a moustache. Only like 4 of us did for Armada.
Edit- didn't mean to quote mcworrell. Won't let me edit that out.

I didn't play you then... That kinda makes me sad. I was wearing the shirt with the 8-bit Ecto-1 chasing the Pac-Man ghosts, and look way too old to be playing with toys lmao
Happy Friday!
I play Armada, because it hits every button for me. Well balanced miniatures game, cool miniatures, fun to paint, Amazing community, cool and functional fan sites, custom miniatures options, Star Wars, and most of all, it is something my teenage sons want to spend time with me playing.
Long live Armada!
