Happy Friday

By Cubanboy, in X-Wing

Happy Friday to everyone, hope this week has been good and some great games happen this weekend.

This weeks question is the following, why do you play x-Wing?

I.... I don't know!

Seriously, it's because:

  1. It's Star Wars. Wouldn't have bought in otherwise
  2. I enjoy the dial/maneuvering style game play (not so much card combos, that's on me)
  3. I love the situations and conversations odd scenarios can create.

1. The models are amazing!

2. Its Star Wars!

3. I enjoy List building

4. The maneuver dials and templates are an awesome game mechanic. You feel great when you correctly predict an opponents move and counter it.

5. The unpredictability of the dice! Rolling 3 natural evades when your in a pinch is amazing!

6. See #1

7. See #1

8. See #1

9. See #1

10. See #1

Primarily as a way to spend time with friends. I wouldn't have gotten into it if it wasn't for some of my friends jumping in. Now, there are side benefits of it being a way to play with Star Wars ships and characters I love and I enjoy the rule set, but it as an activity that I share with friends is my primary reason. Plus, it's a way to make new friends.

BTW Happy Friday Cubanboy & fellow X-slingers

Happy Friday! I play for the fun of it (its a great game) and the Star Wars ~ness. Yes, I make crazy ship noises and quote the movies all the time. Its only better that way!

I'll be getting in some great games this weekend. 4 of them, against people I've probably never met, in a town 3 hours away, to play for a spot in a tournament the next state over. Wohoo! "Best part of x-wing" is gonna be the dinner, drinks, and laughs tonight before we kill each other mercilessly tomorrow. But probably still laughing then too. :D

...because I cannot find anyone who will play Wings of Glory with me.

Ditto. Except 6-10 are "See #2."

Happy friday ! :)

Mostly because of star wars and to recreate battle. Fun with friends (especially 2 vs 2 always fun)

Because Imperial Assault was a lot more expensive and I didn't realise just how much more money I'd end up sinking into this! ?

I watched an episode of Wil Wheaton's TABLETOP back in December 2014. Bought the core set and played it one Wednesday night in January with my best friend. The rest, as the saying goes, is history.

We both became addicted to the game. Both of us are way over the hill , no longer kids but both of us find the game fun, challenging and most of all, entertaining. It also provides mental stimulation.

Now, two years later with all the releases decorating our shelves, were looking forward to Wave XI and the C-ROC. Later tonight we'll head north to play against 5 or 6 other X-wingers up in Ashtabula. Friends we met through X-wing. A couple of games friendly banter and dinner is not a bad way to spend a Friday night.

About this time two years ago, one of the high school aged players made a joke about X-wing being "plastic crack". We all had a good laugh at that. My wallet isn't laughing now but I still giggle on occasion.

Wil Wheaton's TABLETOP

This is the other reason I got into this game.

Also the reason I pissed away good money on the worst Kickstarter in history!

Worst kickstarter in history?

Also to answer the original question... It's fun, it's star wars, it gets me out of the house!

My uncles showed me how to play it and I got addicted.

Unspeakable Words.

Wish I'd never watched that episode.

1. STAR WARS!

2. Wil Wheaton's tabletop

3. STAR WARS!

4. Find out about the EU

5. Did I mention STAR WARS!?

Love Star Wars. Love Air/Space warfare wargames. I enjoy a lot playing games with my friends.

So X Wing is perfect.

The minis look good (which is important since I don't have time to maintain a hobby that requires painting anymore), and I like the planning/estimating of the core mechanic.

That and fond memories of zooming around in a TIE Interceptor in X-Wing vs TIE Fighter like a meth-addled flying squirrel.

I have this rule about Kickstarter - it is a donation and NEVER think anything will come from it.

Once I understood that I realized I don't have extra money to waste so unless it's hairbrained Schemes (shadowrun returns/dragonfall/Hong Kong are all amazing) I don't give.

Still waiting on my FFT game which will never happen ;-(.
