Howlrunner snap shot

By BlodVargarna, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Does Howlrunner's re-roll act like M9-G8 and work with snapshot?

No. Howl allows the ship to reroll, she doesn't reroll the die herself.

No becuase Howlrunner's text says " When another friendly ship at Range 1 is attacking with its primary weapon , it may reroll 1 attack die ."

Therefore the ship doing the modification is the Snap Shot carrier. Whereas M9-G8 is doing the modification, not the Snap Shot Carrier.

Plus, Howlrunner is primary weapon only, Snap Shot is a secondary weapon. So double-no.

Thanks!

Howlrunner doesn't work with Snap Shot for two reasons:

  1. Howlrunner only works with primary weapon attacks
  2. Abilities that grant a ship an optional reroll still count the ship receiving the benefit as the ship doing the modification, unlike abilities that require a ship to reroll dice, which treat the ship with the ability as the source of the modification.

The other major Imperial source of in-formation rerolls, Captain Jonus, gets around the first thing but not the second.

You of course meant Palp right ?

He DOES work with Snap Shot since he is the source of the mod, not the Snap Shot carrier.

I can think of better uses for old Palpie. Like a bookmark for my new Thrawn book!

Does not require formation flying, is not a reroll.

But yes, Palp can modify Snap Shot dice, provided it's not his ship making the Snap Shot attack.

M9-G8 does not work on snap shot either.

The attacker, not M9-G8 does re-roll the die:

When a ship you have locked is attacking, you may choose 1 attack die. The attacker must reroll that die.

Dead wrong. What you wrote is the exact opposite of the FAQ.

Yes it does. The owner of the die is always the person who re-rolls it, but its the ship with M9-G8 that is picking and forcing that die to be re-rolled.

Also, it's explicitly stated in the FAQ that it works.

When using M9-G8, the source of the reroll is the ship equipped with M9-G8, not the ship attacking. For example, if a ship is attacking with Snap Shot, a ship equipped with M9-G8, can cause that ship to reroll a die.
