Omission(s) in current FAQ vs old FAQs.

By Gilarius, in X-Wing

A question came up on Facebook, about the WED-15 repair droid. Can it repair damage on crippled sections of a huge ship?

I looked at the X-Wing Wiki, where it quoted a FAQ entry from version 3.1.1. It explained that, yes, the WED-15 could repair damage on crippled sections, but that section would remain crippled.

The current FAQ lacks the entry for the WED-15 droid, and there doesn't seem to be anything in any of the current documents to use instead. The old FAQ is still hosted on FFG's website.

a) are there any other omissions in the current FAQ that players might need to know about?

b) is there a reason for the omission(s)?

c) is the old FAQ still a valid clarification at eg an Epic Tournament?

d) if no, is there a way to re-instate it?

Possibly because Epic is not as heavily play-tested as standard. As for WED-15, he could be used to clear off face up damage cards from an upgrade that is currently disabled by a critical effect. Other than that there is nothing else for WED-15 to do.

If you are using Epic in a tournament then the required documents in addition to the rules should be the FAQ, Huge Ship Rules, and Epic Tournament rules. I know it is like needing a library to play the game but those three documents (along with the core rule book) should give you everything needed to TO an Epic tournament.

One that I noticed was that the errata for the Stress entry tells you to perform a white 2 straight if you reveal a red maneuver while stressed, but there isn't one for the Activation Phase entry, which still tells you to let your opponent choose a new maneuver.

Yeah I'm pretty confused on that too, what's the official ruling on that these days? I remember it was a white 1 straight at one point (or I could be misremembering or Mandela Effect), but I wonder what they do at tournaments? I don't keep up with the competitive scene at all

IIRC, the way the FAQ ended up shaking that out is if you're stressed and reveal a red, you do the white 2 straight (because every ship in the game has a 2 straight), but otherwise the original rule about assigning your ship an illegal maneuver stands (the opponent sets the dial) - it doesn't apply for stress anymore because pre-activation Stress is possible.

So it could be kind of a ghetto reaction thing to change to a 2 straight rather than your assigned red if you can pre-manoeuvre and stress yourself... Neat. I'm not sure it would ever really be helpful though.

Yes, but the current FAQ doesn't mention WED-15. So, does the old FAQ answer still apply?

I'm not actually TOing anything; just looking for clarity on why it was removed! (And whether anything else has been removed...)

Probably because WED was huge ship only and none of the huge ship only cards are in the normal FAQ. Considering WED-15 was an FAQ and not an errata I would say that sure it still applies as an example, but nothing has really been changed since then. WED functions as normal. he can remove damage cards from crippled sections but cannot flip crippled sections face up nor can he restore discarded upgrades to crippled sections. Of course there is no point to using WED to remove face down damage cards from the crippled section as you could be doing a lot more other things.
