Who's the Least Popular?

By Elliphino, in X-Wing Squad Lists

My main X-Wing opponent and I have decided on a little challenge: we each choose 5 unique pilot cards from our opponent's collection and then we each have to pull one of those randomly and include him/her in the squadron.

The idea is more about forcing each other to think through using pilots that we normally wouldn't, than it is to stick your buddy with the worst possible pilot. Although, there's a challenge in mitigating the weaknesses of a really bad pilot too.

So which pilots, in your opinion, would you take maniacal glee in forcing your opponent to take?

Rebels: Gemmer Sojan [A-Wing], Etahn A'baht [E-wing], Esege Tuketu [K-wing], Blue Ace [T-70], "Leebo" [YT-2400]. Not so much that these are all bad pilots as they constantly get overshadowed by the better pilots for their ships (Corran, Miranda, Dash, etc.).

Empire: Krassis Trellex [Slave 1], Captain Kagi [Lambda], basically any Advanced pilot that's not Vader, Lieutenant Lorrir [Interceptor], "Chaser" [TIE fighter]. I know Fel's Wrath is worse than Lorrir but Lorrir seems like way more fun to play with/against; it's just that nobody ever uses her due to her lack of an elite slot.

S&V: Dace Bonearm [HWK-290], Graz the Hunter [Kirhraxz], Laetin A'shera [M3-A], Sarco Plank [Quadjumper], Kaa'to Leachos [Z-95]. These ones are just really bad.

That was super thoughtful. You named some bad, but interesting pilots! That's exactly what I was looking for.

I see a fair number of people using kaato leachos, mainly in mindlink lists.

Don't forget Deadrain or Redline in the forgotten TIE Punisher

I refused to put Deathrain on the list because he's one of my favorite pilots in the game. But yeah from a pure power level perspective the TIE punishers aren't great.

Having recently gotten spanked by Deathrain, you have to respect that guy. You can do some nasty things with him.

Ibtisam (B-Wing) is another good one to consider for Rebels. Never see him used.

Shout-out to Etahn A'baht as well.

Rebels: Arvel Crynyd, Eaden Vrill

Imperials: redline, Kath Scarlett

Scum: Dace Bonearm, Xizor, Graz the Hunter

Theese would be my picks (all actually somewhat useful.. well, maybe not Rhymer)

For Rebels: Dutch, Vrill, Ibitsam, Garven and Blount

For Imperials: Dark Curse, Zetrik, Zeta Ace, Rhymer, Jendon

For Scum: Emon, Laetin, Dace Bonearm, Razzi, Drea

I have never seen the first named pilot of the YT-2400 be used. Case in point, I don't even know his name lol. Ffg was upset no one used him as they thought he would be used as a hard counter against PTL aces.

+1 red, on a base of 2 red, is not much of a hard counter against a ship that averages around 3 evades (looking at you Soontir <_< ) I have seen Eaden Vrill used effectively along side a stress-hog though.

Back on topic, I like this list for brain teaser/just'cuz pilots:

Valen Rudor(TIE Adv. Prototype), Major Rhymer & Deathfire(TIE Bomber), Kir Kanos(TIE Interceptor), Dace Bonearm(HWK-290), Graz the Hunter(Kihraxz), Kad Solus(Protectorate), Jek Porkins(X-wing)...

I may be all alone on this one but I actually like Kad Solus. By far Teroch and Fenn are better but Kad with stay on target for easy red maneuvers and the double focus a turn is fun.

I agree, @Phanto Fiend , Kad is rad. He decently gets over shadowed by his higher PS comrades. Another thing is the same problem as Snap Wesley and Blue Ace where his ability gets better at a higher PS, but taking VI means you're missing out on some fantastic combos (such as the Kad-on-target you mentioned)

This thread needs more Fel's Wrath.

Also Eaden Vrill, Blue Ace, Dutch Vander, Drea Renthal, Captain Kagi, "Deathfire" McDibbs, Lt Colzet, Zertik Strom, Krassis Trelix, and Critty McCritterface.
