Let's try Fighter Ambush.

Hmm Superior Positions is claimed. I was going to say @Eggzavier ( I believe) could write up a pretty funny report on it, as he took 17 SP tokens at the Chicago Regional this year.

Hahaha I took 20 during a league match two weeks ago.

I feel like this one still needs something else, but I decided to go ahead and just publish it. If I wait too long it'll be 2018 and there will be new objectives from some new campaign!

Heya folks. I want to see more strategy discussions started, and we don't have enough writing on objectives, you know? I want to really get in depth on these things. There's a ton of cool ones that don't see a lot of tournament love, and some that do that don't get a lot of thought. So here's the deal: Select an objective from the list below, and write an article about how you would make it hell for an opponent to pick it if you were Second Player. Post that article wherever you want, but link it here. Got a blog? Put it up on your blog! Don't have a blog? Post it in the forums! Or on Reddit! Or make a Youtube video! Make a PowerPoint! Hell, I don't care about the medium, just as long as it effectively gets your point across. And it is entertaining.

After they are all up, or at the end of April whichever comes first, the community will vote on which one we think is the best. And the author will receive a fabulous* prize.

Unclaimed Objective Topics:

Want to do a Wave 1 Objective that you think needs some love? Make an argument why we should look at it in a new light.

*Prize to be announced later. Don't worry, it will be awesome!

Two articles written and setting the bar high!

I've played Asteroids. (Aimed for an Enemy Base, found out it was just an Outpost. Disappointed.)

Simply Turns the game into a Kill-them-all Game where the enemy can ignore asteroids. Just be prepared for a Deathmatch.

Shortest objective strategy write up ever. I dig the brevity.

There's little you can do for the "Strategy".

Its tough - at best, you can, as first player, aim to play one of those 3 objectives (as there are some zones that have them specifically, without "fleet" objectives being added.)

SO really, you're narrowly picking them, effectively, to remove opponent's objectives from the mix. They themselves, however, are really impossible to plan for as an advantage.

- Directing a Strike and Anticipate Nebula Outskirts? You're only maximising your own benefit forthat if you anticipate that the defending fleet will have Command 1 Ships as a majority already and thus are denying them the benefit.

- Direct a Strike at Asteroid Fields? You're only maximising to your own benefit if you don't give a crap about Asteroids, and are quite happy with a Deathmatch game. Bonus Points if you're able to Interdictor Grav Shift the excess obstacles out of your own way, because there's no point in throwing them in front of the enemy.

- Direct a Strike at Independent Station? Realise quickly that the Independent station has some pretty naff targeting rules - Try to set it up so your closest ship is behind a Dust Field.... The Station can be argued to not fire - or at the very least, won't be targeting your Squadrons.

Really, the only "Good" thing about these missions is that it means you probably assaulted a Rebel Presence and found out it was an Outpost and thus don't have to face the Planetary Ion Cannon on Rapidfire Mode.

Deadline? I'll probably need it :P That or it'll be done this weekend.

Thanks to Parkdaddy for pointing out an error in my article (which has now been corrected).

At one point I had the green and yellow version swapped. That's what happens after playing base defense three times in a row in the campaign!

Here's my strategy for all objectives... Roll better. Lol

Short and sweet, just the way I like my objective play.

Prizes are officially announced. NOTE: Squadrons shows are NOT the squadrons the winner will receive, just an example.

Screw it: I'll take close-range intel scan for 500.

Capture the VIP. Target locked.

Which puts me on Salvage Run.

Dras is doing up some prize squads is he? neat.

Same. It feels great when you can score almost as many objective points as Fleet points. Literally just about every point of damage was a rear shot. Having squadrons helps a lot with that.

Also, really looking forward to these other articles. And the prizes. If I get those squads, I might just have to start painting some of my own to match

oops! I realize my request for Fighter Ambush was not taken.

My bad. The request was above the quote and my eyes are trained to think that quotes are at the top of a new post.

April is almost over! Get writing folks!

I can write an article on why navigational hazards is exceptionally easily defended if you want?

Kind of wish someone would make an argument for minefields with lambda shuttles. ;)

I'm going to do Asteroids. Yes, I did see the discussion above, but I have a different approach to it.

I found that one came up wanting. Maybe paired as well with interdictor to cram the obstacles closer, but mine fields + shuttles just wasn't great.
