Since the release of CC I can no longer build a fleet that satisfies me at 400 points. I can no longer play standard Armada games, I have no friends left to play, that game is ruined. ![]()
Thanks for ruining Armada for me FFG
This is part of their master plan to have 1,000 point epic play, complete with.... SSD.
Whew, i thought this was another, "blah blah capital ship game blah blah. Squadrons b blah ruining blah blah."
Glad to hear you are enjoying it. I know your not from my area, took us about a week to break the campaign. I wish they had spent more time play testing it, maybe it will age better with new waves.
I know that 500 points is probably too much for tournaments. But 450 imo feels just right
I've been playing at 200-250, but I am also teaching my dad to play, so we have something to do when I need to hide from the kids. Will be sweet when we get a new house build this fall, and we're next door to each other.

Naw, we are all just loving the 500 point games. We hope it was FFGs test for 500 point standard play.

good thing i play 900 point fleets with 300 point fighters to prepare then ![]()
I can't find a fleet that completely satisfies me either. This doesn't stop me from continuing to try.
For me the sweet spot is around 800.
My friends and I use a bidding system based on the CC. One of us will challenge another at CC3, meaning we cannot use more than 3 upgrade cards per ship. If the opponent counters at CC2, and is not counter challenged, then we play a game with a max of 2 upgrade cards per ship. We've been known to tie-break by restarting the bid's, but limiting it to cards per fleet! BTW, if you use this system, it's best to limit Unique Squads to one per card in the bidding (so a bid of 3 cards also limits you to 3 Unique Squads in addition to 3 upgrade cards).
But then we like a challenge around here.

What did you guys break? Gameplay combos, or the rules were lacking?

Smells like Biggs breaks everything he is involved in.... See, THIS IS WHY BIGGS DIES IN THE MOVIE...so STARWARS WASNT BROKEN

In CC? Doesnt seem like anything extreme unlike the objective based CC builds.

You guys know the reassigned damage from Biggs' ability isn't mitigated by Haven, right? That's the only way I can imagine this seeming broken. It's good, no doubt, but 1) kill Biggs, 2) profit.
I ran up against this in my own CC and my Imperial Swarm Aces summarily trashed them every time. The other option, if you're running squadron-light, is to kill Haven early with ship-to-ship batteries.

In fairness, what it does do is frequently make Biggs shuffle only 1 damage point anywhere so you never have to worry about someone spiking through 3-4 damage on a damaged X-Wing or YT-1300.
Kit GH with Ruthless Strategists and I could see this being a pretty disgusting combination against squadrons if you could also keep them off your other ships.

No doubt, he really shuts down the damage spikes. Trying to wear down Biggs in this scenario is gruelling. Games against Gallant Haven can be so touch and go, especially if you don't see it much.
You know, come to think of it, Was Biggs really Luke's friend? I mean, Lets analyze the Battle of Yavin...
First up, "Blast it Biggs, where are you..."
This shows Biggs complete lack of concern over Luke, especially knowing Luke is an new pilot in a X-Wing, sure, Luke piloted a Skyhopper growing up on Tattoine, but he never flew a real combat mission, no knowledge of real military combat tactics, but he basically abandoned Luke to the Imperial Pilots...
Then Luke in the Trench....
"Hurry up Luke, we cant hold them much longer...wait...wait...arrrgghhhh.......<Static>" Biggs explodes in a fiery death of man and machine.....
and Luke kinda just......goes.....Meh...sighs, and keeps on flying...no real reaction to someone who is supposed to be his childhood friend., no momentary explosion of emotion, BIIIGGGSSSSS, no Obi Wan telling Luke to calm down and trust in the force and bla bla....He showed more concern for Wedge who got a laser blast scratch on his port engine....
and then when Luke blows up the death star, and lands on Yavin IV, Luke is all happy, bla bla, but then he see's R2D2 and is like, OH NO....R2 is shot up, a droid, not a REAL HUMAN CHILDHOOD FRIEND WHO JUST DIED, HE IS WORRIED ABOUT A MACHINE HE HAS ABOUT......2 days if that of a relationship with...I mean seriously, Biggs must not have been a huge friend cause **** he could care less about him...

Yay the Biggs-controversy again ![]()
Actually in Star Wars there was a whole scene which introduced the bond between Biggs and Luke on Tatooine, then another one before the battle. Unfortunately neither made it to the film (though the second one made it in 2004). But in the book, there are much more about their friendship. They have conversations that weren't even filmed both on Tatooine and on Yavin IV and Luke's emotional turmoil is described deeper after Biggs' death as well.
So read the books, always read the books because they are good stuff ![]()
They are friends, I think you maybe overthinking it ![]()
Pffttt, overthinking it he says, I say George Lucas UNDERTHUNK...YES YES ITS NOW A WORD, DEAL WITH IT, UNDERTHUNK IT! YEA...SURE

Yes this plus Reiken is all sorts of sad for the opponent.
He's tellin' me more and more about some useless information
Supposed to fire my imagination
I can't get no, oh, no, no, no, hey, hey, hey
That's what I say
I can't get no satisfaction, I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no
When I'm watchin' my tv and a man comes on and tell me
How white my shirts can be
But, he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke
The same cigarettes as me
I can't get no, oh, no, no, no, hey, hey, hey
That's what I say
I can't get no satisfaction, I can't get girl reaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no
When I'm ridin' round the world
And I'm doin' this and I'm signin' that
And I'm tryin' to make some girl, who tells me
Baby, better come back maybe next week
Can't you see I'm on a losing streak
I can't get no, oh, no, no, no, hey, hey, hey
That's what I say, I can't get no, I can't get no
I can't get no satisfaction, no satisfaction
No satisfaction, no satisfaction
