Waiqar cavalry

By dukncuver, in Runewars Miniatures Game

So it looks like Ankaur will be able to be placed with infantry and cavalry units. What do you think the Waiqar cavalry will look like? The easy bet would be skeletal horses but that seems a bit boring to me. Seeing as many Waiqar units have ornamental antlers, skeletal or rotting stags would be neat. Or maybe other various zombie forest creatures? Bears? Giant boar? What do you guys think?

Barghests won't be cavalry necessarily but will fill the role of a fast skirmisher.

In BattleLore waiqar has death knights, who are slow but exceedingly powerful horseback knights.

In the model he is modeled as riding a Bone Horror (I think I have that right, I'm not proficient in the Lore skill for this game yet).

Based on the concept art I've seen from Descent and the minis there, I think that would be a cool cavalry unit, and it fits the style they have going for Waiqar so far, and distinguishes 'undead armies' in RW:TMG from AoS.

Oh yeah, I forgot about bone horrors.

They are usually slow, but will probably be immune to morale as their own unit.

I think Cavalry will included mounted and unmounted creatures. I expect unmounted Bone Horrors to be potential cavalry units as well as Death Knights and Barghests. I think Flesh Rippers will be cavalry pieces for Uthuk. Just looking at the 3 sizes and shapes of bases, it just doesn't make sense for these to be on infantry circles. Given that Ankaur rides a Bone Horror, I hope we'll see them before Death Knights.

Are they slow in Battlelore? They're particularly fast in Descent (and have and incredible reach to boot!)

I'm looking forward to Barghests as a really fast cavalry-esque unit ... even if they don't move far distance-wise I hope they have a low initiative...

Death Knights would be cool too, but I've got a sinking feeling they'll fall into the Undead = low init category ... hopefully with something to compensate...

They're kind of slow kind of not. They only have a movement value of 1 hex. However, you can spend 1 lore at the end of your move step to make them move 1 hex. So if you order them and have some extra lore, you can move them 2, which is standard for infantry. But unlike other units, you don't have to order them to use the Compelled ability. You could play an Attack Right command card, ordering 3 units in the right flank, but choose to spend one lore per Bone Horror and have them each move 1 hex, even if they weren't an ordered unit in your right flank. That gives them this creeping, inexorably advancing feeling.

Thanks for that ... by way of comparison (in slowness) in BattleLore Ironbound only moved 1 too?

(PS While I love your choice of Avatar, it's going to take some getting used to ... coming from the X-Wing forums, to me Budgernaut has always = Zuckuss, any one else using that avatar was an imposter lol)

I appreciate that. Part of my decision to switch is that I spend more time here now, but the other is that there are so many Gands on the X-Wing forums. I'm still the only one with The Uncanny One title, though. Still, I may consider switching back because I'm not quite used to it either.

I chose the Viper Legion because I love poison effects in games, even if they aren't the strongest ... Viper Legion, Poison Pokemon, F.A.N.G.
