Alt Art Card - Creation

By taulover55, in X-Wing

After a bit of a hiatus from drawing, i'm toying with the idea of Manga inspired alt art cards for some of my favorite pilots for some local prize support and primarily for me to use.

For those of you that dabbled with it, did you split the creation of the card into pilot and background then merge in photoshop or just all in one? also how big did you create the card prior to printing? currently i'm working on an A4 sheet to then scale down a little, i know comic Pencillers and Inkers mainly work to a3 so believe this to be a decent scale size.

my first will hopefully be a Miranda with a K wing in the background (my most used ship) which i have the basic layout for, followed by some others hopefully (not going to focus on the main screen characters as don't think i would do them justice just yet!)

Cheers for that awesomejedi

I'll keep them bookmarked for when I'm up to that stage lol. Just trying to figure out the initial creative process from people that have done there own artwork as I'm normally OK with drawing people/faces and then doing a little bit of background but wondered what people had dabbled with and then set on as their working practices
