First world problems: The current needed items to have every scenario prebuilt

By Doma0997, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

I posted this over on BGG, but thought I'd start it up here just in case anyone was interested.

As a disclaimer, I do NOT recommend doing this. I am, and I can tell you it is an unnecessary financial dump. However, I'm an avid Arkham collector from the fantasy flight line (took two days just sleeving every single card from the entire original Arkham Horror line.) and I just like the idea of having everything pull and go for this game. Anyway, I'll try to keep this list updated as packs come out.

Currently to build every single scenario without breaking any apart for encounter cards you need:

4 Core sets (already out striking fear and ancient evils, only have 1 set of multiple others)
3 Dunwich Legacy (out of The Beyond)
1 of every mythos pack

I'm very thankful that the POD scenarios are self contained, because if anything else started pulling from the core, I'd go crazy.

Well if the leaks for the next deluxe are anything to go by, you're going to need another Core set. :P

Since most people who buy multiple core sets will have no use for all of the extra encounter cards, it should be possible to buy them for cheap or even get them for free. And I'm sure one could sell the excess player cards.

The hassle with multiple core sets is that after the 8th, player cards become absolutely worthless. A huge waste, really. Why can't FFG release some kind of "crazy collectors' upgrade set" that just contains the encounter cards at a lower price than a full core set? ^_^

Yep, I started doing this is as well, I've printed off little tuck boxes for each scenario, colour coding the design of the box to the campaign as well, so Night of the Zealot are all in dark blue boxes, Dunwich in dark green, and I opted for a brown colour for the POD scenarios, pale grey for the fan made ones.

Then Essex County came out, and I'm fairly convinced I will need a silly amount of core sets to maintain this approach. As mentioned, maybe you can pick extra encounter sets up, but I reckon there might be a few of us trying to do the same!

I am now having a rethink of how I box up scenarios. I'm thinking maybe larger deck boxes for each campaign, then I only need one copy of each encounter set per campaign. I'll still need to construct scenarios at the beginning of games, but at least it's a compromise between the two extremes of having everything built and having them all in one massive collection.

I'd be interested in how others are approaching this, or any tips from veteran LOTR players out there?

I'm actually going to use the long single row bcw box for each campaign, a small one for the core, and an independent long one for side missions, then at the far end just scribble down core, dunwich, ext.
