Propaganda video

By Dutzen, in Game Masters

hi everyone,

my players recently attacked an AT-ST with a combination of a detonite charge and a frag grenade. This attack was that epic (at least that's what my players are thinking ;) ) that they decided to make a propaganda video for the rebellion on Onderon.

Background:

My players are a Special Squad that are operating with more or less illegal (to the rebellion) methods (like the Suicide Squad).

Do you have any tips how this video (uploaded to the holonet) can affect my story / campaign?

Currently we are running the advanced beginner game (operation shadowpoint)

Boost die in Negotiations with other lowly folk. Setback when dealing with the Alliance. Obligation with the Empire.

You could use it as a rallying point for Onderon, the oppressed masses rise up in response to their awesomeness.

Or. . . . you could have the Empire pull a Running Man on them. A little selective editing and creative voice over from the A/V department of COMPNOR and suddenly good guy Killian refusing to fire on a food riot is branded the Butcher of Bakersfield.

And the rebels have a different version of the video. The populace doesn't know exactly who to believe! Some of them believe the empire, some the rebels! When Good Guy 007 shows up, the people riot as those who think he's a butcher clash with those who believe he's fighting for them.

Don't forget that they characters may feel guilty when they hear of the Ryloth Massacre, when dozens of small groups of rebels were gunned down trying to replicate what the players did. And in so doing, exposed the flank of a Rebel Base, forcing a retreat. The planet is lost, and the players next visit to a base is filled with casualties who all blame them for "inspiring" the poor fools to do what they weren't able to do.

Goddamnit, I need to watch Running Man again in penance. Killian was the Richard Dawson character, the bad guy. Ah-Nold was Ben Richards - and of course someone quoted me, so I can't quietly edit the message and sweep the error under the rug. My Running Man Shame will be archived for all to see and mock forever more.
