Would saving X-Wing Nerf these message boards?

I have probably less than ten more "nerf this...Fix that... Save X-Wing...Here's my janked up idea for such and such" type threads left in me.

Tolerance level is almost depleted with that stuff.

It used to be more fun and interesting around here.

It used to be more talk about the game and a lot less " gee wouldn't it better if __________"

Maybe I'm stuck in the past or something, but all that has just sucked away my desire to look at this place anymore.

Qft. I used to love looking through the forum daily, sometimes multiple times a day. Now I check about once a week or so. I don't hate nerf threads, some aspects of this game aren't perfect and player feedback about these things on these forums may lead to those certain cards or ships becoming more balanced and fun to play. However, when I check the forum and then come back 6 days later and the "hot" thread is a new nerf thread about exactly the same thing from the nerf thread 6 days ago, it's rather boring and predictble to spend time here. I'll admit I haven't thought of anything great game wise to start a topic on, but less nerf threads and more threads about things like trying new builds, new fan made x wing pilots and upgrades, and more just generally fun stuff would be most welcomed.

You can go Nerf yourself.

Yeah Nerf should be **** as a four letter word.

What the Nerf did you just say to me, Nerf Herder!

I'll Nerf your list up!

If you're the type of person who hates nerf/buff threads, and you happen to see one, I have a solution that is so simple it will blow your mind: DON'T CLICK ON IT. It's really that simple, folks. These threads are pretty easy to spot. Rarely will you stumble into one without knowing what you're getting into. Even if a thread BECOMES a discussion on balance, all you have to do is refrain from posting. Doing nothing is quite literally the easiest path.

If you can't help yourself, then ask yourself these questions: Why does it offend you so grievously that somebody might have a different opinion a balance issue, or enjoy making up some homebrew rules for their favorite game? Why do you feel the need to go rain on somebody else's parade so that you can force your different opinion on them? These people don't want that kind of input. Your presence is not wanted. This is the internet... you're not going to change their mind.

If you're feeling benevolent and want to help an inexperienced player understand that a ship/combo doesn't actually need a nerf or a buff, then read the offending post(s) carefully to determine whether the OP is open to hearing your thoughts. If you think will be open to suggestions, then make your point gently. You will not win them over by dumping on them or telling them to "git gud."

The worst people are the ones who don't even bother to argue their point. They pop in just long enough to vent their impotent nerd rage and try to make somebody feel bad. These people absolutely disgust me and the world would be a better place without them.

If you really feel the need to be a douchenozzle and dump on somebody for no reason, then at least try to grow a pair to and do it to somebody in real life, face-to-face. Try flipping the bird at somebody in traffic, or go harass somebody in the street. You'll do it to the wrong person at some point, and learn an abject lesson in manners and decency while you get what you deserve.

Or, if you want to learn to be a better person the easy way, maybe just make the conscious decision to NOT be a a coward who slings vitriol from behind your protective bubble of anonymity. You and everybody you come into contact with will be much happier for it.

You could have not clicked on this thread either, you know?

And don't you dare assume I want to be a better person! If I wanted to be a better person, I wouldn't be on the internet right now!

Yeah, well, I'm just going to point out that my "let's build a capital ship based on its title" thread has 4 posts (and I'm 2 of them) in 10 hours and this one has 5x as many in 7 hours.

People are putting their energy where they want to put it.

Both things are not mutually exclusive.

No, but more experienced players will not usually call for a nerf. They will comment on a thread calling for a nerf but they probably have an acceptable counter to most things that are the targets of a nerf. Or, to them, it's not that big of a deal. Like Biggs, Sabine, TLTs, stress, Tycho and another dozen that I can't remember.

Brobots, Phantoms, Fat Han, Super Dash, Mindlink, hell, even Keyan was OP and broken according to the forums when he came out but now... Now no-one calls for Keyan nerfs. Poor forgotten Farlander.

Oh c'mon if you are going to talk about people's ability to be hyperbolic when it comes down to nerfs, atleast don't use the phantom or Fat Han as examples... otherwise it feels like you are the one being hyperbolic.

A lot of the offending threads read as people who have just had a bad game against something specific and need to vent on the boards.

The problem is very few posts are coherent or are poorly hidden rants.

I think you're misinterpreting my point. Which is; there have always been "OP! Needs nerfs!" threads. They do seem a bit more prevalent these days and sometimes they have been actually nerfed by FFG but that doesn't change the fact there have always been plenty of these threads every wave. This has all happened before and will all happen again. Whatever is on top will always have nerf calls. Tis the nature of the beast...

So what you are saying, that when people who claim the X-Wing fighter is unbalanced, and completely useless, all be it for Biggs, who is absolutely not played for the fact that he is in a x-wing, but more for a greater upgrade card of HP and possible damage, is balanced, dispite having the name of the game inbuned into it, and nothing is wrong with it? Then you my friend are living in denial. And if that is an issue, im sure there are countless others spouting about.

The problem is you cant seem to step outside of your elitist bubble you created for yourself, and see how it is for OTHER players, even when they voice their opinions in a OPEN forum. If you dont wanna read a nerf topic, its very simle, DONT. But creating topics like this make you look more like a laughable mess then any of them. So grow up, put your balls back on, and go play in traffic like a good useless troll you are. Or better yet, you go create a game, release it, then make a forum for it and when everyone decides to call you out on your BS, or something they dont like, you can squash it like the Tyrants of old. Granted, you would prob be laughed out of the game industry about as fast as Digital Homicide's games were on steam. So go in the mirror and take a good look at your life buddy. Im sure its not pretty.

Well i find it a natural response.

Nerf wave - people feel validated on their thoughts - more people have the courage to post what they think should be nerfed/buffed.

Just wait it out and stuff will go back to a normal amount of nerf threads.

I'm aware of that. However my point is;

It's really simple. They have always existed and always will. Nerf/buff/fix threads will always be here and have a history of being here. Just a simple statement of fact. I don't care if people want to be hyperbolic, I don't care if the OP hates these threads, I don't care about arguing on the internet. Just saying that they always exist and always will. Hope that's a little clearer now.

I heard they are gonna re-remove the Painting and Modification sub-topic and replace it with a "Nerf" sub-topic

I hope that is meant as irony. The painting and modding subforum is the one section here, where there is a genuine positive atmosphere, awesome stuff too see, and when there is criticism, its always in a constructive and encouraging manner. (And it's not about modding rules or FFG's game model)

Whereas having a nerf subforumn would surely NOT prevent the real whiners and the ones-imaging-they-can-manipulate-FFG-by-posting-NERFS-cries-all-the-time from still spamming the main forum.

Actually though, yesterday and today look a bit like that the more positive threads and thread titles take over, instead of people still feeding nerf-threads with responses. [My responding here is not good either, but that proposal above I could not let go unanswered :/ ]

It was really just a comment intended for you to laugh at then click the like button. I have reached a state of meditation where I no longer require food and subsist entirely from the likes I receive off forum sites. I'm not very good at it, because it seems I'm always hungry.
