Thanks for the shout out, guys. For a small moment I was afraid you misinterpreted my suggestion, but you guys got it. Tantive IV is the only huge ship the Wookiee Commandos can go on. I actually hadn't considered that it's great when you have multiple shots. Good idea! I was mainly trying to open up the action for an upgrade or coordinate, and the Wookiees let you go without target lock. Maybe they have a place after all.

Oh, and it's pronounced: "para" as in "parachute", "kit" as in "kit-bashing", and "tor" as in "KotOR". Parakitor. ...I think I put too many t's in my pronunciation guide, but you've got the right vowel sounds now ;)

To address Phil's question about success with the pair of Defenders, to some extent it was due to unfamiliarity of my opponents. I won a small (~20 player) tournament playing a guy with pre-nerf Echo. I had no business beating that list, but I just don't think he understood what was happening to him. On the other hand, HLC Defenders had a terrific matchup against Fat Han, especially the tanky version that Paul Heaver popularized. Defenders could trail the Falcon, pouring out accurate 4 dice shots and taking minimal damage from the return shot. I also thought they were quite good against TIE swarms, and they'd rip Decimators to pieces, and make short work of Dash (thanks to PS8 on Rexler Brath).

Honestly, I'd take HLC Defenders agaisnt the wave 6 meta with more confidence than either titled Defender against the modern meta. This tells you something about how much things have progressed.

Wookiee Commandos need a boarding mechanic for epic.

Oh -- and how is arc dodging not maneuvering? That's still flying; repositioning isn't relying on card combos.

Non-standard lists with normally unseen ships can provide the element of surprise. Had a couple people forget what T65s did. Had a lot of fun flying T65s in stiff competition. That said, if you've got a good player across the table you'd need to capitalize fast on their surprise or they adapt and beat you with the stronger ships.

Still, I fly to have fun. I don't really care if I win a tournament as long as I don't spend the day losing every match without feeling I had a chance.

Repositioning is reacting to the board state. It's a form of maneuvering that takes advantage of knowing where your opponent is. Now, repositioning with a lower pilot skill and still achieving the same result is pure skill.

Hopefully it was funny to hear us try to pronounce it. :)

I keep thinking of a whole bunch of wookies on the CR-90 that are yelling, pumping their hands in the air, banging things, and getting hair everywhere. The rest of the crew is trying so hard to avoid the wrath of the wookies looking over their shoulder that they just try harder.

I didn't really mean to insult tournament players, but I often find that they just aren't thinking of things on their own to try. They look at what's been done and copy it. There seems few people that are willing to just try their own thing these days.

I think the groupthink problem (something I've personally observed and lamented a lot, especially in reference to announced/previewed materials) isn't just limited to competitive players. While certainly easy for some of them to oversimplify or narrowly focus because of specific demands of "competitiveness", "optimization" or "viability", I've seen more casual players lean toward group assumptions and "common wisdom" about the virtues of ships/upgrades or parrot arguments others have made without seeming to think about them real hard.

Also this episode taught me that jbot is some kind of mutant alien, he just wants to fly naked plastic spaceships and roll dice! Me, I see those little upgrade bars and i'm like "ooh, what can I put in there, I have options!". In fact I want more options. It's like this in the RPGs too, "Why does the X-Wing only have one hardpoint, I can't cram chaff launchers and hot-rod engines in".

I often like just flying naked ships with no upgrades. It's pretty fun sometimes. I also like putting on toys, though.

Again another wonderful flight on the best ship I've ever flown on with the absolute best crew this side of Bespin!

You flew in that thing? You're braver than I thought.

Heychadwick, outside the lemming thing where I cringed like crazy, good show. Loved the mission building section.

I have never stopped using jousters. Too much fun to have six TIE Fighters on the board, I generally surprise people when I run Scourge and (as I call him) Mauler Mustache by themselves. It forces my opponent to either go after the somewhat scary dirt cheap PS7 guys or the swarm.

Lemmings was a bit harsh and out of universe.

Next time, use "nerfs". The Tydirium crew can be our "nerf herders".
