I noticed in the Learn the Play they talk about customizing and have a rune golem painted with the Barony of Cathridge scheme with the emblem. I was wondering if there was lore / info for the other baronies?
Lore for Color Schemes?
None that we know of yet.
there might be some in the descent expacks

Here's hoping!
I'm hoping that in support of the game FFG runs some non-product release articles on things like this...

They've run one so far, but I was hoping there would be something published from Descent or a wiki on the Runebound world somewhere. Really want to get started on a paint job that's not just the typical blue and gold.
You can bet that as soon as we have all finished painted our figures FFG will release a lore book with the 'correct' colour schemes.
I really think FFG could do much better promotion-wise. Two months ago I didn't even know what Terrinoth is, and how to eat that. I've learned about the game by accident looking for other ffg games. It took me a while to learn how interesting and diverse this setting is, if they would add more lore materials on their web i think much more people would go into it like I did. They should at least get the info that Leonx Riders are coming :-)
This is from BattleLore: Command. The first picture shows Baron Frederick in his purple livery. Could be inspiration for a Daqan army. I can't remember where Baron Frederick hales from, though.
The three pictures after that show a comparison of Riverwatch Riders (white horses) with the Kelleran Cavalry (brown horses). The Riverwatch Riders are from the free city of Riverwatch, but their outfits match the typical soldiers of the Daqan Lords. The Kelleran Cavalry (from the barony of Kell?) have darker cloaks and their helmets are blue instead of white. Instead of bearing the crown of Daqan on their shields, they have an owl on both cloak and shield. I'm not sure what that owl is about, but there it is.
[By the way, if someone could teach me how to do spoilers, I'd appreciate it. I used to do it all the time before FFG updated the forums, but now I don't know how.]
Thanks,
@Parakitor
!
Beasts of War just had their painting weekend and folks were creative with their color schemes (although I doubt they are canon).

Yeah, the lore guide doesn't talk about color schemes at all. It does briefly touch on 2 of the baronies, but it doesn't really give painting info or even pictures or colors. The best alternate color scheme suggestion in the whole box is that one at the end of the 'learn to play' book.
That being said, they did a good job expounding on some sub-factions for undead and daqan, just not as it relates to painting up armies.
@Budgernaut Great screen shots. The owl looks pretty cool, and I like some of the shield emblems shown on the Beasts of War video above. Thanks for posting that, @bumyong . So many neat ideas!
I think the way you do spoilers is "spoiler" and "/spoiler" in brackets around the item you want hidden.
I reckon FFG are now just waiting to see all of Sorastro's colour schemes before sneaky them into a lore book as the official colours all along.

As a newbie to completely paintable/customizable tabletop games (coming fromt xwing, armada and imperial assault, i always had an eye for warhammer fantasy, but the AoS-incident kept me from investing, now im super hyped) , this is something i just dont get. why would you restrict yourself to something as "official colors" when you can instead personalize them as you like?

Some people like to be able to tie their army back into the 'canon' lore for a game. It's never really been a big deal to me, but different strokes for different folks.
One of the big draws of this game is being able to play with factions I've played in 3 other games. Those factions each have a unique aesthetic to them, one of which is color. Without the matching color scheme, I feel like I'm playing with a different faction from a different world. That nust isn't as exciting. If I wanted generic fantasy armies, there are dozens of other war games I could play (maybe?). But I'm interrested in this game BECAUSE of the lore, so my armies will need to look reasonably close to canon depictions.
As already said some people want to use canon colours because they like the lore of certain faction or army so they want to play an army of Barony X or the 7th Carion Lancer Regiment or Ultramarines and for them they have obviously look like them.
As I play different games I have both official and my own colour schemes.
The big decision for me (playing undead, trading away the humans) is whether to go a rusted armor route or a more pristine and cleaned darker look. I anticipate seeing a lot of purple, so I don't want that to be my color of choice for the undead. Highlighting black is difficult, so I'm currently unsure which direction I will go as of yet.

Take a look at P3 Coal black. Put some down, black wash, highlight up a few layers to a pale teal/blue grey, and you can get a real unique, oily black look that works well for fabric/leather.

This.
Everything else I've painted for Waiqar has conformed to these color schemes so far, and I love the idea of continuing to play as the same skeletal legions on a different scale!
I think about doing them white (and yes I know it's a hard to paint colour), not sure if clean or dirty though.

That actually makes a lot of sense. thanks for the heads-up.
