If Sabine was factionless, what Scum or Imperial bomb lists would you fly?

As someone who mostly plays Imperial, it's kind of annoying having your bombs be 50% as effective when they hit something as a Rebel player. They can even put bombs on a TIE Fighter!

Would you fly Deathrain? Would Emon be overpowered? Is it a bad thing if Emon is overpowered? Would you put Sabine on a TIE Phantom?

If Sabine *were* factionless? She'd ride Andrasta with Emon.

That repositioning after dials are set could REALLY mess with people's heads.

If you did TIE Shuttle and then put her in a crew slot, would you get your bomb slot back?

Come on FFG, we need FAQ clarification on hypothetical house-rules too please, is that so much to ask??

It's actually an interesting thought, Sabine has technically been affiliated with all the factions at one point or another. Plus we're trying to spread her around as much as possible right :P

Would if break anything if they made Sabine a factionless card? I just really want something, anything really, at this point to make Emon practical. lol

Well again that depends on what ship would take it. Likely it would be better if the <crew> slot ship had a <torpedo> slot for EM or a <bomb> slot to begin with. So lets go down the list.

  • HWK-290; Very much like the Rebel equivalent. no torpedo slot or extra bomb slot which would make it a one time use however the difference is the illicit slot which allows for scavenger crane assuming you killed someone. Furthermore you also had the highest skilled unique which can turn ion tokens into damage so ion bombs would not only do 2 ion tokens but also 2 damage as well (one from Sabine, and one from Dace). Still the constraint is repeating that ability and unless you can consistently trigger scavenger crane without losing it not much for the long haul
  • Firespray-31; Probably the biggest benefit to Sabine or a <crew> upgrade that acts like sabine. Also with the titles you could ad some amazing versatility. Slave 1 would give you the most value with EM doubling your two bomb upgrades, as well as Andrastia which allows you to carry up to 4 bombs. Pair that with the pilot that can deploy them to the side and you got a unique platform. Now the only question would the extra crew and bomb cost (to include EM if using slave 1) will bring in the same among of MOV before or without getting destroyed.
  • Lambda shuttle; Not much on the bomb side as it has only a cannon upgrade. However if there was a factionless equivalent of Sabine that wasn't unique as well you could potential double up on it. However such equivalent will have to give something in return so possibly no bomb slot (which would be useless) or no extra damage which would not make imperial (and scum) bombs as effective as dirty rebel bombs
  • TIE Bomber (shuttle); kind of a redundant feature because in order to equip sabine you have to discard your <bomb> and <torpedo> slots. What you gain from this is a support platform if the imperial equivalent was able to increase the effectiveness of bombs this could be a decent lead ship to go with a bomber squadron, that is assuming that bombs become good with the boost.
  • TIE Phantom; No torpedoes but with the cloak could make some interesting positioning to place mines. However considering the Scum-Hawk also has access to the cloak it is not a guarantee that it would be any good as a one time use only ability.
  • Upsilon Shuttle; The Lambda's bigger cousin but again, no torpedo slot or bomb slot. So no more of an advantage.
  • VT-49 Decimator; Starts with a <bomb> slot and a torpedo slot. Sabine would love this. Still the expensive cost of this ship is sort of the same problem a bomb laden Firespray has. Could work, but could also not.
  • G1a Starfighter; Kind of a funny ship as it is the B-wing without <torpedo> or <cannon> slots (save for the tractor beam) it is designed for 3 firepower PWT and crew (when 3 firepower PWT is sort of being out classed). How would a tractor beam combine with a bomb on the same craft, not as good. But possibly like the TIE Shuttle it could be used as a bomber squadron support ship
  • JumpMaster 5000; These guys don't need anymore help. PWT, <torpedo> slot for Extra Munitions, now you add in a couple of bombs to play with that white s-loop. Though amusing I think everyone else would say NO THANK YOU!
  • YV-666; Lots of crew slots but no torpedo slot. Sort of like the VCX or the Decimator without an additional bomb slot.
  • Lancer Pursuit Craft; 2 illicit slots so scavenger crane could be useful but no torpedo slot. MFA could help with dealing more damage but the rear arc hasn't exactly helped the Firespray be a bomber.
  • Quadjumper; Comes with another bomb slot and Zuvio with his reverse pilot ability would make this fairly decent. Add the fact that you can include scavenger crane for recovering one of the two <bomb> upgrades you may have dropped.

I should also mention TIE Punishers and any other ship that has bomb slot but no crew. This is assuming Sabine has a universal buff to all bomb tokens on the table while in play. If it were just a bomb slot there would be no need to include these ships.

  1. TIE Punishers, would make deathrain better but as always you have to put Sabine on a different ship. TIE Shuttle maybe?
  2. IG-2000 Agressor, Well given that bro-bots is a full list you would likely be pairing up Sabin on a YV-666 party bus with IG-88 D <crew> as well.

So it really depends on what the Sabine clone would do. If it was a faction copy of Sabine like (Unkar Plot is to Chopper) it would likely be restricted to one faction only and cost more points. If it were a non-unique generic it would have to be a way that doesn't exactly help Sabine in YT-1300, U-wing, or VCX. Other wise it would make sabine just that much better, but also something will have to give. It could be only an extra bomb slot, but as mentioned before did not help the firespray, or sabine ability without the bomb slot in which it would only apply to shuttles and many all of the above ships mentioned will not longer get that benefit. In some way it would have to be different, you could split up the upgrade to like <system> for the added damage and <crew> for the extra bomb slot. However that would completely change the resultant list.

So it would be nice if the other faction had an equivalent to Sabine <crew> but the better question is; How will you make a faction equivalent (or non-faction equivalent) of Sabine that isn't Sabine?

Yeah, Whisper with Sabine crew and an action bomb, Deathrain with Electronic Baffles EI and a bunch of explosives of various sorts, and Deathfire.

Ooh yeah, and Oicunn. I already like a Conner and EM on cheaper Oicunn builds with Bo Shek to really mess with peoples' options. Adding Sabine would just be gravy.

Emon probably doesn't quite have the legs still, though. He needs an EPT. Or the Firespray needs a buff of some sort.

Or both.

Also, Bossk with Cluster Missile, CLuster Mines, Scavenger Crane. Sluster Mines woudl be a great way to guard his vulnerable derriere...
