I'm not seeing a backstory for shishi?

Whose the other brawn guy?

I'm still working on it, while working ?

Ok fixed... I took the whole 30.

I'm gonna make a case for a rarity 6 SE-14r Light Blaster, as that's the blaster I didn't return when I was let go from being a deputized lawman.

Hmmmm...it's a full-auto pistol. I'm not sure sure I could see law enforcement being essentially given an Uzi. ;) Maybe a huge restricted handcannon, instead? As a side note, keep in mind the house rule I have for autofire (it's in the OP), it makes taking more than one extra shot a little risky at lower levels.

I'll purchase something else... Some other gun for about a grand.

Did we decide whether we wanted a silhouette 4 or 5 ship?

Keep in mind, you CAN buy attachments and...well, attach them. I'll also allow mods to be purchased at the same time.

I think only 2 ships have been floated thus far, and the Sil 4 ship was a bit too specialized.

Personally, I like the Wayfarer suggestion, mainly because of these:

Edit: I also think I have an idea for how you all start the game together, but I'll wait for @Dunefarble to upload their sheet and background before I confirm it.

Dibs on the outside, front cabin. The one closest to the cockpit.

Wayfarer sounds good to me then.

Dibs on the entire cargo pod :P

It's rough and I want to add a lot more detail, mostly about Shishis three Droids, but the basic background is done.

also the Obligations are chosen too with a little description of each.

What's the maturity rating for this pbp? 2 pretty ladies and Vic is a troublesome combo....

So what is Shishi's relationship to Vic?

Alright, it looks like everyone's sheets are in! Pay no mind to the silly nicknames on the first page, that was just a result of me wanting to put one of Vic's nicknames up there, and then not wanting anyone to feel left out.

Quick note: for the sake of my own sanity, please no more than 3 Obligations per character. Lookin' at you, Vic :P

Before I outline the intro that popped into mind, a disclaimer: this part is 100% subject to approval by all of you. If you feel that your character isn't behaving the way you envisioned in this opening, tell me and we'll change it until you're satisfied. There's an infinite number of ways for you guys to meet up, so speak up if I chose a bad one in your eyes.

Without further ado, the gist of the intro:

  1. Being the young and idealistic soul that she is, Melonie heads down to the local shipyard on her home planet to buy a ship with little more than pocket change and the confidence that she can negotiate a loan for a down-payment. Instead, in a stroke of "luck," she finds a seller who really doesn't want to sell so much as not have to pay a towing company to remove the junk that was formerly a starship off the landing padd he coaxed it onto.
  2. Thinking she's on a roll, Melonie immediately start looking for crew right there on the spot. Which is fortunate, because unbeknownst to her the ship she just acquired doesn't actually fly.
  3. Of course, the majority of the spacers she talks to laugh in her face at the idea of going against the Hutts for basically no reason other than "because it's the right thing to do." She doe get a few comm numbers though, so she reckon's it's not a COMPLETE loss. And lo and behold, eventually two rather strange aliens looking for a ship off this rock in a rather big hurry come and talk to her. Regardless of any reservations they may or may not have, the long arm of the corrupt law is reaching out to grab them and their options either seem to be to throw in with this mild lunatic and die later, or get arrested and spend the rest of their lives in the slammer. They opt for the former, and Vic and Shishi join the crew.
  4. Declaring her mission a success, Melonie and her new crew attampt to take to the stars. However, this is when Meonlie realizes two things: her ship doesn't run and she doesn't really actually know how to fly it, though she's got all the high scores on the arcade sims back home so that's something, right?
  5. Shishi, shaking his head, gets to work making the ship spaceworthy again. It's a thankless task, but one well-suited to his skills and soon the ship has power, a hyperdrive, and all the necessities back up and running. He warns Melonie that most of the ship parts were actually older than the ship itself and would probably need to be replaced as soon as possible, which Melonie confidently says will happen soon after their first score against the Hutts. Shishi quietly considers his life decisions.
  6. Meanwhile, Melonie herself was not idle, looking for a pilot to round out their Merry Band. After all, someone needs to fly the ship while Melodie dashingly steals or delivers the goods, depending on the stop. She gets a few more face laughs, a few more comm numbers...and eventually, a willing soul in the form of Kara Farrhect. Kara is fresh off yet another group that lost funding, and is beginning to lose faith in academic expeditions. While this kind of...character...wasn't what she was looking for, Kara reasons that someone who irritates the Hutts will eventually be forced to spend all their time on uncharted planets anyways. And besides, Kara has information on something that these people might be interested in: the Figg Lodestone.
  7. The Figg Lodestone is a minor family heirloom of the Figg family on Gerrenthumm, the planet often referred to as "the Coruscant of the Outer Rim." It's not priceless, but it IS pricey. Supposedly, the stone has a map on it (made by Ecclessis Figg himself!) that leads to an uncharted cluster. This has been never been confirmed, however, because the stone is in the private collection of Gruggan the Hutt. Kara wants the stone for the chance at worlds that have never seen footfall from a civilized species, and stealing it from a Hutt and selling it afterward for a decent chunk of change holds much appeal to Melonie. The two women shake on it, and the ship (yet to be named) has a pilot, a crew, and a mission...

Tell me what you guys think! I tried to guess at reactions as best I could from backstories, so against if I got something wrong (or missed a strong reaction you would have had somewhere along the line) let me know.

PG-13. Though I hate to break it to you: most sapient women won't find an Ewok sexy :P

That's up to you two. It likely that Shishi is (or was) somehow in possession of evidence that could have exonerated Vic, thus forcing Vic's rival to implicate Shishi in the crime as well to discredit him.

That sounds likely. I'm thinking something along the lines of it all started in a small town on a world with bigger cities, perfect place for spice smugglers to do business. The sheriff is friends with everyone, particularly anyone else as odd as him, so Shishi and Vic have had plenty of drinks together. Shishi fixed everything, and the people who framed our heroes said he was helping Vic hide spice in supply shipments. The spice was destined for the bigger cities but shipment inspections was much easier going out there in the wilderness.

I don't know exactly how it went down, perhaps a flashback later on could play out the scene. But for now it's enough to know that the two are friends with a common enemy.

I hope you don't mind my other Obligation, I tried to come up with something that could reasonably be fulfilled, but only with a lot of effort from Shishi. The search for parts, the refinement of techniques, other tasks getting in the way, setbacks with failure, these are all possible with what I think is a uniquely internalised Obligation. Special Modifications has some great ideas I must say.

I'll Consolidate obligations... Most can be summed up with bad reputation I guess....

Well... When you just got your heart broke, and you have a cuddly shoulder to cry on and a few to ment glasses of wine anything can happen ;)

What if shishi was the mechanic for Vic's former cargo employer?

Yes please. Melonie thinks Vic is adoooorable! ...not bangable. He's not nearly 'Boss Calaryn' enough and she doesn't get her heart broken. There's too many neebray in the lanes, too much adventure out there for her to settle down and stay in one place! And she's still looking for a guy that's the perfect mix of adventurous, handsome, dashing, crack shot, handsome, generous, kind, dedicated, handsome, witty...

Of course, that's Melonie, not Kara. To each their own, after all! Melonie doesn't judge! I mean, heck, one time there was this trandoshan in a bar, well... it was more a club, but it actually had good drinks, so... hey, where you guys going?

You must be this tall to enjoy the ride. *holds hand at 5'10*

I think Vic's gonna get a loooot of burns. THey'll start calling him Vic Verno "The Inferno" ;)

It's looking like everything is more or less ready! People seem to be OK with the intro, speak now or forever hold your pieces, yadda yadda yadda. There are two things left to do before the IC thread goes up (hopefully today):

  1. Everyone make a Force Die roll for Destiny
  2. Come up with a name for your humble Wayfarer. I'll probably rename the game to incorporate it (since the current name is outdated)
