I'm a bit new to the obligation system (I'm more familiar with the duty system from AoR) so does Obsession go down the less that a character focus' on that aspect of their lives, or does it go up, and vice versa?

Kara would likely need to make that big discovery to reduce it a decent amount, but i would think actually gaining recognition for the discovery could be a large part of the obsession. To make a small reduction in Kara may find strong rumours, perhaps solid evidence, a map even, of some lost location. that would have the effect of reducing that obsession a small amount, but actually going there would do much more

keep in mind EotE characters are expected to ALWAYS have obligation. it can change, and should when the story drives that, so keep in mind the obsession may go away. Lets say for example kara does make a cool discovery of some kind of Jedi or Sith temple and brings that information to the galaxy... well that obsession may fade away to be replaced by a Criminal Ob as the Empire brand her an outlaw and try killing her to stop the spread "false information" as their propaganda machine would call it.

So either I would like to flip a Destiny to get a contact for the Hutts Majordomo that we can begin negotiating a meeting and payment with. If a destiny isn't enough for that then a Streetwise check, He would be better at Underworld, but thats not fitting for what he is trying to do.

Someone can assist if they would like too, Shishi is cunning but not streetwise.

It'll require either a Streetwise or Knowledge (Underworld) check, Difficulty 2.

I have a rank in knowledge underworld.

Ok, we can rp that out, Ill make the roll of AAAPDD in a second

What's that Hutts number?: 3eA+1eP+2eD 3 successes, 1 threat

so Shishi finds it, Mel saves his bacon from doing something really dumb

He finds the contact info, but maaaaybe looks a little amateurish in doing so. Not embarrassingly so, but enough to look like this is his first time doing this sort of thing.

do you have a name i can drop? or should i just start riffing and make some stuff up?

Scoontel Brangan, a Togruta male.

Richard. just as a heads up, the looking amateurish wasn't for in front of other Dusty Nomads, but for the Hutt's people. It's going to manifest as a Setback on the initial social check you guys make with them. So, he probably would have posted on those message forums. Whether or not Mel knows that's not the BEST way is up to her ;)

Fixed it.

I figured the 2 advantage rolled on the Proficiency dice was Mel telling Shishi to quit the dumb crap that the 3 Threat would have caused. Going to a bar to "surprise" the guy is the actual dumb thing Shishi is doing

and a setback for walking up to a guy in a bar when they are trying to 'enjoy' themselves is definitely worthy of a Setback!

Ahhh, I see what you mean. THat's fair, I just mainly wanted to make sure you knew the Threat wasn't just "Looks a bit foolish in front of a party member." Looks good, carry on!

Re:securing the smuggling compartment - how do they lock? From the inside? Out? Could we turn it into a little prison cell?

It's currently not made to lock things in, and probably has safety features specifically designed to keep someone from locking themselves in their own smuggling compartment and starving to death. It would take about 100 credits and a Average mechanics check to modify it into a prison.

Could we just move a bunch of heavy stuff on top or in front of the door?

I think it would be safer if we just left someone behind, unless we can come up with a really good way to keep them in.

I think even then it would still be possible for them to get out, but they would have to try hard. Besides do we even have enough heavy stuff around, that's not bolted to the floor?

Well occ I'll volunteer but ic Vic will be pissed!

Shishi is a boffin, he will be happy to stay back at the ship with Little Vic.

So does everyone want to split into 2 groups of 2?

Fine by me.

Yep. At a meta level probably not for too long since us on the ship will not have much to do, and anything we do do will require very little role play. But it makes sense to split.

Kara I think your already gone... ;)

Time jumps are hard to handle... I can make a change to try and show that it is farther back in time than parts of the other two posts, or with more details I could move it forward in time.
