That's a Trandoshan tooth from the fight I mention on a gold chain.
The Dusty Nomads OOC
I'd even go for an obligation roll out the gate as we are trying to lift off...
It's up!
My guess is Melonie has spent a great deal of the trip fruitlessly trying to convince people they want to be famous. She can't fathom why they might not be interested in having large amounts of attention drawn to them.
Vic already got a taste of being the headline of the local holo-news. Now that he's out of the slammer, he wants to keep his head down till he decides if he can clear his name or if he's just gonna kill them.
P.s. Vic did ten years for the spice run. It was 8 years, but he got 2 tacked on for bad behavior.
Edited by TheShardFyi, I'm totally on board with doing some warm up jobs first, but Melonie would at least try to convince everyone to go straight for the big score.

Do we know how the lodestone ended up in the hutts possession? Did he, like, buy it from the Figg family a week ago?

No one is quite sure how the stone ended up in Gruggan's possession a couple years ago, including the Figgs are far as anyone knows. Some lawsuits have been filed and are pending, but there's not been much movement on that front for years for some reason.
That's the extent of the widely-know public information. More information could be uncovered with:
An Education (archaeology) check, medium(2 purple) difficulty,
or,
a Knowledge (Underworld) check, also medium difficulty.
Other suitable Knowledge skills may be applied, ask if it'll work and I'll shoot back an answer fast as I can.

.....fair
Melonie knows from her "contacts" in the underworld that Hutts tend to be very materialistic when it comes to displays of wealth and power. They like to surround themselves with pretty things almost instinctually. Gruggan is an up-and-comer, not yet as established as most Hutts, but ruthless and cunning enough that few doubt he'll get there in a few years time. His 'acquisition' of the Lodestone fits his status: something just well known and valuable enough to be impressive, but not so much so that the former owners (in this case, the Figg Family) are quite willing to use force to get it back. As for the lawsuits, Gruggan's been using the opportunity to show a little bit of influence over the civil court system, throwing up constant delays and red tape into the proceedings.

Yes! It would reveal a bit more about the Figg side of things, and perhaps a bit more about the stone itself.

The history around the Figg Lodestone has fascinated local academics for centuries, though Kara never really paid too much attention. After all, who cares about found artifacts? And it was just a naturally formed (albeit beautiful) bismuth crystal anyways. It wasn't until she heard the legends regarding its secrets that she did a little research. Kara knows that the legends were never conclusively proven, but that they were pervasive even after the family stopped letting historians and archaeologists study the stone. Some said that the crystal was actually grown around a small container with the coordinates inside and had to be destroyed to access them, which is why the family never found them: the stone had far too much sentimental value.
Edited by Benjan MerunaHah! That actually sounds like something Kara wouldn't tell us.
"Sure... we'll steal the thing to sell back to the family.... oops I broke it, clumsy me. Guess we can't sell it, but we should go check out these coordinates anyway."

That indeed is very close to what she might be thinking...
But everything needs confirmation, you never know where information might be hidden with items like this.
By the Way, Imperial, the planet is mostly urban but the district where Gruggan's estate is located is called Eccles. Port Eccles is the closest spaceport to your destination.
Do we have anything in the cargo hold?
By the way guys, you don't have to bold your dialogue, just regular "" quotes makes it easy enough, generally speaking I wouldn't expect anyone else to speak in one of your posts.
9 minutes ago, Imperial Stormtrooper said:Do we have anything in the cargo hold?
Not much. Most of it is just Shishi's mess with him, his droids, and scattered parts littered about. Then there's maybe about a weeks worth of consumables, and that's about the sum of it.
Kara wouldn't run into any trouble with the authorities if she mentioned the cargo as "empty," but the use of security droids outside the ship would likely be permit-only.
