A work in progress between my phone and you tube but here you go

Great short video that covers the overall pace of the match. Thanks!

Thanks for the feed back, I have tried a couple of different ways of recording games and I think with iMovie is the easiest for now. Hopefully I will have more up Friday......

Haha sometimes i wish i had a better phone!

Nice quick summaries, i like the filming style too, very similar to the way I do it for my MOTF channel.

Great work.

Another battle report from last night

And a second report for your viewing pleasure

A report from my game on Sunday:

And a second battle that I observed:

And here is another, still not too sure about how I handle this on Sunday if I play against Matt so any suggestions would be appreciated........

My advice re: Matt's list and your list generally!

First. Before I forget. Try and squeeze leading shots onto the Defiance! Defiance allows you to proc the blue dice even at long range and overall it turns the ship's big side arcs into forces to be reckoned with.

Also you have nine squadrons! I know it can be tough but I'd either drop down to 8 and upgrade one of the squads to a hero (maybe turn two Y-Wings into Dutch? Also gives you the points for Leading Shots) or try and find the points to hit 10. In my experience even numbers are always better for deployments and if you're not hitting that next bracket you're better off picking up a hero power. Dutch here could be really good as it will allow you to turn a squadron off as it were.

Right onto Matt's list, and specifically how I would take it on with your list.

Matt clearly want's to be going second. It helps stretch his activations, which with only 3 is really important. With Rieekan it's not that big a deal re: someone having first player as even if they alpha strike his stuff will just keep on kicking. You didn't say what his other objectives were but I'd hazard a guess that they're likely to be Contested Outpost / Fighter Ambush and probably Superior Positions or maybe even Intel Sweep (but that's just a guess I could be way off). These objectives are either really bad if his squads kick on hard, and / or force you to fly to him (which is what he wants). The other part is that unless he has squads in position to Yavaris with his fleet doesn't really have an activation that can take advantage of first (though if he does get off that first player Yavaris, oh boy that would hurt).

So my first piece of advice would be (even though it wasn't your choice in this battle) to take second player if you get the choice. Make him work to your objectives rather than the other way around.

The other main piece of advice would be to make sure the squadron fight happens in the vicinity of your ships. Don't launch your fighters into his cloud, especially if they're near his ships. That's playing into his hands. It allows the AA to really come to bear and Gallant Haven to kick off. Your MC80 is a far bigger ship to ship threat than anything he has. Use that to force his hand. If the MC80 can get into the side of Yavaris that's probably a dead or badly hurting ship. The point is though is that if both sets of squadrons do nothing all game, you come out ahead because your ship can punch harder than any of his. Therefore if you don't fight but hang back with your squads you force him to either send his squadrons out away from AA and Gallant Haven cover, or move his fleet and his squadrons forward to press the engagement. Both of these are better outcomes than the battle here.

Anyway hope that helps!

Don't worry, I'll probably completely switch lists the night before the next tournament...do you have 16 Z-95s I could borrow?

I can lend 4 we might be able to crowd source the remaining ones via the FB group......

I just registered an account to be able to chime in on this thread.

Your battle reports are probably the best format I've seen - quick and speedy but they cover all the right moments and strategies in the game to give a sense of how the fleets are flying.

Keep it up!

Consider me very inspired by your battle report format. I do similar fast style for X-wing and may have to continue to do the summaries whilst keeping the videos short. Great work!

Is my name that hard? @Gilad Pellaeon we should sit down and discuss when peeps tag one of us trying for the other. I also am a bit miffed you recorded this flop but not @MasterShake2 's first defeat with the Nebulon Battering Ram, at the hands of the Mk 1D Dreadnought list.

Well, he didn't record the first four wins with it either...also, he messes up my name a lot

Five. You beat the Dreadnoughts the first time by 1 point, then was the upset.

sigh, I would love Neb-B's if they had an arc shape closer to the CR-90 or ISD.

It was because you opened the formation. In theory that's fine, and against anything other than an ISD or a LMC80 that's fine. Even an Ackbar H1MC80 will have trouble getting that shot unless you come in at a weird angle. That time I listened to Jamie though and drilled you. The staggered gunline would have had the same issue had the sweep ISD come in where the Interdictor did. Given the new idea about turning you had, does the fleet have points for Spinals over XI7s on anyone?

Posting up a couple of battle reports
