Couple of CC "All In" Battle questions

By IvoryTower, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

So we just got done playing our campaign here at our LSG in Tulsa and we had a couple of questions that came up.

For the "All In" battle, how are the damage decks meant to be handled? One per fleet (4-6 decks) or one for the whole side (2 decks)? We tested out the one per side, and when we got low on cards shuffled back in the discards under the remaining "fresh" stack.

Dodonna's ability is worded for "enemy Ships" taking face up damage and not for when friendly ships/squadrons are doing it. Needless to say the Imperial players felt this was unfair, so we went with the compromise of just when enemy ships hit asteroids (and if this would have had mines then those too), and JUST when a member of Dodonna's fleet would cause that face up card.

Since it's been quite some time that a FAQ has come out for the game I'm hoping this is answered and can make it into the next FAQ release.

Doubtful they'll be explicitly in an FAQ - mostly because these answers have been "out in the public" for a few Worlds Now. Of course, that means nothing to anyone who hasn't been looking in that one specific direction , but anyway:

One deck per fleet is standard unless stated otherwise. Always.

In the only comparable media - Official Team games - Dodonna has been stated by FFG to work that way (ie, "Unfair"). Its a side effect of Dodonna's specific wording of "Enemy Ships" rather than "Friendly Ships and Effects"...

Standard CC Caveats of "If you don't like it, change it with discussion" with your group apply... But in the only equivalencies we have - that is how it is.

Thanks for the quick reply Dras, you're always on the ball.

I'm really looking forward to them putting an updated FAQ out and with the flood of all the puters being updated I can only images that Armada's is soon...

My theory on dodonna is he effects everything because his ability can be stopped by a contain

Only if you're stopping the Crit via Contain.

I mean, you can Dodonna an APT strike - but you can't contain that without a Damage Control Officer.

True enough, I neglected to write the words 'can stop his ability on default crits' or damage control officer.

Crush Dodonna in the lead up to the all out battle, makes things simpler

I will contain my asteroids :P
