Geek&Sundry has new tabletop show

By jekara, in Star Wars: Armada

About halfway through the video you can see armada ships (a Vic and a Neb). This might get us a few new players which is cool.

I saw that too, but it doesn't look like there's much information worth dissecting. I see a VSD a few times, and in the fist-slamming shot there's a Neb and a CR90. I'm guessing this is a show about tabletop gaming, but more competitive and less "Euro quirk gaming." Tabletop is a huge hit for them, so maybe they're looking to slightly expand on that idea, taking inspiration from esports commentary, and pit two competitors against each other with analysis and overlays. Not gonna lie, I'd watch it. It's not surprising that they'd go more with minis wargaming than traditional boardgames. However, the Armada content isn't likely to be riveting. Probably two fairly novice players figuring out the Core Set intro scenario. Still, maybe it'll drive more new players to pick it up, and help grow the community. Kudos to FFG for presumably sponsoring this free ad for a game that desperately seeks some parental love. X-Wing may have been a more obvious showcase game, but Tabletop already did an episode on it a few years back.

...Unless this is all just an April Fool's joke. Which seems dumb because it's actually pretty on-brand and plausible for G&S, and not a bad idea.
