Hero Icon on some cities

By xwillybabyx, in Runewars

Hey all, so we just had our first game today and theres some things we couldn't find reference to in the rules. So on some cities, there is an icon that looks just like the back of the heroes cards with a number. On the one card that allows you to get influence, tactics cards, neutral units, or quest cards from the city, the supremecy bnonus is the ability to hire heroes. But if that's the case what the heck are the hero icons on some of the cities?

At first we thought it was some misprint but then we thought, well maybe if you use the card and select "recruit a hero" as an option that doesn't exist, you can hire a hero independant of also doing the supremecy to hire a hero thus giving you 2 heros that turn. For cities that had the icon.

Is this right? Were we just missing something in the book?

Thoughts?

Thanks,

-Will

You SHOULD have received a smaller-sized template with 1 Elven faction sheet and 7 new City tokens that have the correct info on them:

The original city tokens were misprinted, the new ones have different stats and an influence icon instead of the hero icon that you are talking about (you are supposed to draw influence, not heroes =P)

The Elven faction sheet has a minor misprint as well

The template with all of these corrections is about half the size of the regular templates that were in your box and has the Elven sheet, 7 new city tokens, and a small note printed to explain the correction

Ohhhhh lol we just punched everything out and were like, oh whats this extra elf card :) Which one is the correct elf card? Is that in a book or sheet somewhere? So we just get rid of the hero icon cities all together. Check!

Thanks!

LOL, yeah I almost didn't even read the note on that template, but then I too wondered why there was an extra Elf sheet and then I noticed the print ^_^

The IN CORRECT Elven Faction Sheet has a red-highlighted "3" on the food dial (for initial setup status), throw that one away along with the city tokens with the hero icon instead of influence if you want... I'm keeping them just for the sake that I may find use for them for some other purpose (or just random deco)

Hi all.

Are you sure we pick influence, it may be on the new city tokens but on page 36 in the rulebook it says to place neutral units that match the map tile.

( some map tiles have no neutral units on, so maybe these tiles you get to pick the influence )

For each city he controls, he chooses one of the following benefits:

1. Neutral Units: The player places neutral units of the proper
type and quantity in the area. Since the player controls the area,
the units are considered allied with him. The player may not
place a figure type if there are none available of the chosen type.

2. Tactics Cards: Draw a number of Tactics cards as printed on
the city.

3. Influence Tokens: Gain a number of influence tokens as
printed on the city.

4. Quest Cards: Draw a number of Quest cards as printed on the
city. The player must then discard down to three Quest cards
in hand.

You place Neutral units matching the "type" on the CITY token - it doesn't matter what's in the area. In fact, unless I missed something in my counts, NONE of the 5 City areas have Neutral units on them.

The City token itself will have either a rectangle, triangle, or circle, with a number printed inside it (except one that has a circle with a 0). What that means is you can add that many neutral units OF YOUR CHOICE, matching that base type (well, for Triangles, at least; there's only one type of Circle and one type of Rectangle).

That means in the Rectangle cities, you can recruit 1 Hellhound (neither of them have 2's, I don't think)

In the Circle cities, you can recruit 1 or 2 Sorcerers.

In the Triangle cities, you can recruit 1 or 2 Beastmen or Razorwings (and I think, if I remember the wording, in the 2 triangle city, you could recruit 1 Beastman and 1 Razorwing).
