Bunch of simple skill related questions +1

By Akailis, in WFRP Rules Questions

Just need clarification or your take on these, I'll try to keep it brief:

1) Aside from purchasing fortune dice, where else can one get more fortune dice to add to the white box beside the characteristic rating?

2) Training skills confuse me so here it is. When adding dice to the pool created by whatever variable circumstance and factoring in skills, what adds what dice?

a) attemting a basic untrained skill = no dice, no misfortune?

b) attempting a basic trained skill = 1 expertice dice

c) attempting a untrained/unaquired = you cannot

d) attemting an aquired but untrained advanced skill = no dice, no misfortune?

e) attemting an aquired and trained advanced skill = 1 expertice dice

e) attempting a skill with specialization = skill dice + 1 additional fortune dice (For spec)

are these correct? Feel free to correct me, their only guesses.

3) are basic skills needed before training advanced (Example, first aid needed to be trained before medicine can be aquired and trained)

Cheers,

-J

1) this is the only way of getting fortune dice that are applied to all characteristic tests for that characteristic

2) this all looks good to me except the comments on no misfortune. The GM can apply additional fortune/misfortune dice to the roll based on circumstances

3) you do not need to have trained a basic skill before you can pick up advanced skills, other than first aid and medicine the majority of basic and advanced skills are not even similar in nature.

Awesome, thanks everyone. Appreciate the responses.

CORRECTION:

One thing to add that has not been said, and is rationally irrelivant, however in the interest of completness; these dice can be granted as a racial modifier, several of the "creature" races have charactaristic fortune dice added as a racial trait. The reason this is mostly irrelevant is that none of the exsisting player races that currently exsist have racial fortune dice.

If using player races then no there is no other way to get these dice, however that may not be the case forever, or even for very long.
