The Allegiances of Heroes

By cadamec, in Runewars

Was anyone else surprised by the allegiances that were chosen for some of the heroes?

I mean all the ugly orcish fellows are neutral while Battlemage Jaes and Red Scorpion are evil? Sillouette is good, yet her flavor text in Runebound makes her sound like some kind of assassin...

I just found these surprising. It is funny how you can build up an image of a character based on so little information.

to be honest, when I first looked at their pictures when playing Descent, I thought none of them looked like Good characters...

I hope that the allegiances of the orc heroes means orcs will be a neutral new race in the expansion.

I am pretty certain this will be the case. Personally, I am wondering if Onefist is as badass as in both Runebound and Descent.

I wanted Steelhorns. Maybe I am the only one, but I wanted my COW POWER!

I've always had a soft spot for Red Scorpion.

The spot I have for red scorpion isn't soft...

I was more amused by the alignments, though not surprised about mad carthos... though I was certain that varikas the dead should have been good...

The rest seemed about right. The set needs more elf and dwarf heroes, less orc heroes, but then they seemed to just stick with the basic dudes out of 1st ed descent.

If yoy play Red Scorpion in either Descent or Runebound, you ARE the soft spot. In Runebound, I simply leave her card in the box.

I can see Jaes being a power hungry evil wizard type. I admit I would thought Red would be good, but learning that she's evil isn't exactly bad news. Just means the character is more complicated than I realized. I'm not surprised that Silhouette is good - given her confrontation with Bogran in the preview flavour text I definitely got the impression she was on the "save humanity" side of the equation. The fact that she's also a sneaky assassin type just goes to show you that not all good people are pushovers. Which makes sense, really. Evil would probably won out a long time ago if good-hearted people weren't prepared to fight back. Being prepared to kill for what you believe is right and randomly killing for ***** and giggles are two different things after all.

I just want them to add Shiver. llorando.gif
